Marvel Officially Releases Professor Hulk Avengers: Endgame Clip

Marvel Studios officially releases a clip of Professor Hulk from Avengers: Endgame. For many viewers, Bruce Banner’s arc in the film was one of the more surprising elements. In the five years after the events of Infinity War, he was able to merge his two conflicting personalities so he could experience the best of both worlds. Banner’s impeccable intelligence mixed with Hulk’s brute strength made for a formidable combination. And after Banner spent years being afraid of the Hulk, it was nice to see him be at peace with his condition.

In retrospect, it’s easy to see why Disney and Marvel were so secretive in regards to Hulk during Endgame marketing. Professor Hulk’s initial reveal is played for shock value, as it probably wasn’t what most were expecting when they first sat down to watch the film (see also: “Fat Thor”). But now that the cat’s out of the bag following Endgame’s unprecedented box office run, Marvel is being a little more free and loose when it comes to promoting their latest blockbuster.

Today, Marvel officially shared Professor Hulk’s introductory scene, where Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Scott Lang pay him a visit to discuss the complexities of the Time Heist. The clip also includes the comedic moment where a group of kids come over to take a photo with Hulk and then reject Ant-Man. Watch it in the space below:

Prior to Endgame’s premiere, advertising for the film was incredibly bare bones, hardly scratching the surface of what transpired in the twisty time travel narrative. More recently, however, Marvel has taken the opposite approach. With director Joe and Anthony Russos’ spoiler ban lifted, the latest promotional materials have leaned heavily on spotlighting some of Endgame’s biggest spoilers, like Captain America wielding Mjolnir in battle and revealing the dusted Infinity War heroes coming back to life. This makes a good deal of sense, seeing that Endgame has grossed more than $2 billion worldwide and recently passed Titanic on the all-time charts. Marvel’s now trying to encourage fans to see Endgame again in theaters by showcasing some standout moments.

Circling back to Hulk, his MCU future after Endgame is currently unclear. His arm was severely damaged after he used the Infinity Stones to reverse the effects of The Decimation, an injury that unfortunately is permanent. At first glance, that would seemingly put him out of commission, but the Russos have said it’s possible someone gives Banner a new arm or helps him come up with a solution. In any event, if Hulk appears in another film, it’ll likely be in another team-up or as a guest star in a lead character’s solo movie (like on Thor: Ragnarok). Mark Ruffalo’s performances as Banner made him a fan-favorite, but Marvel has little interest in making a new standalone Hulk film. It’ll be interesting to see what becomes of him.
