Marvel Offering Free Issues of Must-Read Comic Series Next Month

Starting next month, Marvel Comics will begin releasing free copies of some of its biggest issues for fans to pick up and read. For most of the year, the best time to pick up a free comic from bigger publishers like Marvel and DC is during Free Comic Book Day in the first weekend of May. This yearly promotion has given fans a chance to catch up on what they’ve missed and get a glimpse of what’s to come. However, now Marvel is adding on an incredible deal that no fan will want to pass up: select free comics every month.

According to Marvel, a new ongoing series called Marvel Must-Haves will collect some of the hottest issues the publisher has created so fans can read up on what they’ve been missing. Each issue is expected to be a mega-sized publication with the first issue having “more than 80 pages of comic book adventures.” The range of what stories will be a part of each month’s collection will ultimately be limited to what’s been trending in the last 10 years as Marvel wants to provide an economic option “to get fans in-tune with current Marvel adventures and act as perfect jumping on points for new readers, too!

Marvel Offering Free Issues of Must-Read Comic Series Next Month

The first issue of Marvel Must-Haves is expected to release on March 6, 2024, and the best part is it will be available for absolutely free.

Marvel Must-Haves #1 Features a Stellar Line-Up

Spider-Man, Deadpool, Thor and Ms. Marvel Lead the Pack

Ms. Marvel from Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant

The very first issue of this free series will feature three issues of some of the hottest heroes in comics today. Kicking things off will be the first issue of the Spider-Man/Deadpool series launched in 2016 by Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness. Given how popular both these characters are for seasoned and new fans alike, it’s a perfect issue to begin once fans open the pages. From there, they’ll be greeted with the adventures of Thor in Immortal Thor #2 by Al Ewing and Martin Coccolo.

Finally, Ms. Marvel will be saving the best for last, with the first issue of her brand-new series following her controversial death, Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #1 by Sabir Pirzada, Carlos Gomez, Adam Gorham and the MCU’s Ms. Marvel star, Iman Vellani. It’s an exciting first batch of comics that will make this first collection a must-have for anyone wanting to catch up on the events in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel’s New Must-Haves Series Is a Brilliant Move for Fans

Deadpool from Deadpool #1 (2015)

This upcoming free series from Marvel is a genius move for the company. Money can be incredibly tight for some people, so it’s very likely that some comic fans won’t want to spend up to $5 per comic issue in favor of saving up for necessities or splurging a bit on something in the future. By giving fans an option to pick up free copies of these popular issues, it gives them the chance to not only add to their collection but also decide if what they’ve read is something they enjoyed and wish to pursue further. This could lead to more sales in the future as more issues in certain series come out.

The first issue of Marvel Must-Haves will become available at local comic stores the first week of March. However, fans should be aware that due to the comic being free, they may want to talk to their local stores to guarantee they walk out with a copy before every issue is taken. This new series by Marvel Comics is a brilliant step in the right direction to usher in new fans, and with a new comic coming each month, it will be exciting to see what stories will be available for free next.
