What has Kate Sisk from Married at First Sight been up to since the show? On Married at First Sight season 8, Sisk was one-half of a bizarre marriage. Kate was paired with Luke Cuccurullo. However, the demure blonde and her bearded husband shocked fans when details of their loveless union came to light.
Sisk and Cuccurullo said “I do,” in a charming and intimate ceremony during MAFS’ Philadelphia season. The blushing bride seemed pleased with her new husband. He, on the other hand, expressed almost immediate disappointment in her. He preferred more “exotic” women with darker features, so being paired with the fair-haired stranger didn’t sit well with him. Just as soon as Married at First Sight audiences processed that bombshell, a second one dropped: This couple was already acquainted. Cuccurullo and Sisk had met at a speed-dating event prior to being cast on the show. With a little bit of history behind them, one might think that they’d have the blueprint for a lasting union. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Throughout their marriage, Cuccurullo was distant and emotionally withholding from his new wife. During their honeymoon, he refused to be physically intimate with her, saying that he was repulsed. The experts expressed shock and disgust when they learned what he’d said to his wife. Pastor Cal Robinson even reprimanded the groom for his rudeness. Sisk and Cuccurullo eventually had sex during their marriage, but Cuccurullo later asserted during the reunion special that he only did it to appease his bride. Kate Sisk reportedly tried to end the marriage midway through production, but Cuccurullo convinced her he could change. Neither physical intimacy nor hands-on counsel from the experts could save the relationship. When asked on Decision Day if they wanted to stay together, both opted for a divorce. Also during the reunion special, Cuccurullo shocked Sisk as well as host Kevin Frazier by accusing her of having a drinking problem. She vehemently denied the accusation.
Tensions continued to swell as Sisk discussed how she discovered her husband’s Facebook page which stated that he liked men and women, and that he was currently in a same-sex romance, despite having been married to her. She asked him if he was gay, but he denied it, telling her that the page was a joke.
Sisk was quite blunt in calling out her MAFS husband for wasting her time and breaking her heart. “The reality is, there can be alternative reasons for someone deciding to get Married at First Sight, such as fame,” she said. “The worst case scenario is my match’s reasons for getting married were not for finding love.”
Now that this couple is divorced, Sisk has used her time to build her lingerie brand called Hidden Intimates. She continues to socialize with friends, as well as some of the other brides from her season of MAFS. Sisk even took a trip to Switzerland, posting numerous photos on Instagram. In recent months, she has also used her platform to speak about social justice issues. She has advocated for Black Lives Matter and also used her time in quarantine to appeal to the public to keep safe by wearing masks. Cuccurullo is also staying busy. He hosts a podcast called Cuccurullo Conversations and has expressed a desire to get married again and have kids within the next five years.
Sisk was certainly a cautionary tale for Married at First Sight. The emotional detachment and gaslighting that she endured in her short-lived marriage were more than most people could manage. Much to her credit, Sisk conducted herself gracefully and lovingly during the entire ordeal. Many fans are hopeful she will get her happily ever after, but maybe the best thing for her now is to focus on other pursuits. If and when she does find love again, there will be an entire fanbase cheering her on. Her ex-husband from Married at First Sight, on the other hand? Not so much.
