Married At First Sight Season 17’s Orion “Played The Victim” & Was Unfair To Lauren

There was always inequality and imbalance in the relationship between Married At First Sight’s Orion Martzloff and Lauren. The independent contractor and federal budget officer seemed like a great duo when the experts matched them. Orion and Lauren shared complementary personalities and had common visions for their future. Unfortunately, their relationship dynamic changed after they became serious about each other. The issues began after Lauren revealed that she had dated someone months before Orion. The truth made the young man question his wife’s ethics, leading him to grow distant from her because he didn’t feel romantic towards her.

While the experts on Married At First Sight tried to improve things between Orion and Lauren, the problems kept escalating. In one of the later episodes, the man asked his wife for a divorce, citing that he was no longer interested in her romantically. Orion’s decision wasn’t appreciated by many viewers. Lauren felt especially heartbroken about it as she put it all on the line for her husband. She claimed that she felt a lot of pain due to her former lover’s divorce request and resented the whole situation.

Orion and Lauren’s relationship may have fallen apart because of a lack of love. However, it’s easy to see that Orion was the main culprit in the destruction of his marriage. Of the two, Orion was the first to give up on his marriage because he didn’t get what he wanted from the relationship. Most understanding people will do it all to make the relationship work, but Orion quit the moment he felt a little uncomfortable. The Married At First Sight star shared that he and his family are more disappointed that he didn’t get what he “wanted out of this process.”

Orion Was Contradictory

Bad people often contradict themselves and expose themselves as hypocrites. Orion did the same by punishing Lauren for something she didn’t intend. In a previous episode of Married At First Sight, Orion got mad when Lauren described his skin as red, showing concern. He took it as a racial slur and accused his former partner of racism. The whole situation was unnecessary and pointless, especially since Orion had used the N-word in the past, and Lauren had forgiven him for that. He failed to realize that intent matters the most and didn’t show much understanding.

Orion Wanted To Play The Victim

Orion played the victim throughout his relationship with Lauren. From his past trauma to his life experiences, he made everything about himself and his feelings. When he asked Lauren for divorce, he was called out for playing the victim. In every situation, Orion used the victim card to make himself feel more important than the others. Even in his divorce with Lauren, it was all about how he couldn’t get what he needed out of the relationship. If the Married At First Sight alum had ever loved Lauren, he would’ve allowed the marriage to flourish.
