Married At First Sight Season 17: Emily’s The Least Likable Cast Member (Can She Redeem Herself?)

Married At First Sight Season 17: Emily’s The Least Likable Cast Member (Can She Redeem Herself?)

Married at First Sight season 17 is two episodes in, and cast member Emily is already the least likable participant, but she may be able to redeem herself. Fans have been introduced to four couples: Brennan and Emily, Cameron and Clare, Austin and Rebecca, Orion and Lauren. Cast member Michael was supposed to marry a woman named Chloe, but she was a runaway bride at the altar. Brennan and Emily were the first pair to tie the not on the first episode.

The Married at First Sight experts were hesitant to cast Emily for the show since she has never been in a relationship before. In fact, she hasn’t even gone past the third date before getting ghosted. Emily feels she is ready for the experts to find a man who will choose her. The 29-year-old described that she had a great childhood with parents who’ve been married for 30 years and give her inspiration and hope regarding relationships. Tech account executive Emily had acknowledged that the experiment and getting married won’t be easy, but she wants to go from “hype girl to hype wife.”

Emily Is Not Serious About Settling DownMarried At First Sight Season 17: Emily’s The Least Likable Cast Member (Can She Redeem Herself?)

Emily may say she is ready to be serious and settle down with a husband, but her actions and demeanor speak otherwise. During the bachelorette party with the other brides, Emily’s love of drinking, partying, and getting wild was apparent as she was comfortable getting close to the male entertainment. Moreover, one of the first questions Emily asked her new husband was whether he liked drinking instead of asking something more worthwhile and deep. Having gone her whole life without a relationship is a major red flag and could point to character flaws viewers have yet to see.

Emily’s Friends Shaded Her Personality

Emily sat down with her friends during the first episode, and they questioned Emily’s readiness for marriage. One friend, in particular, shaded Emily badly by saying, “I think to be the best wife she needs to focus on understanding what other people want, and I think she’s so not what makes her happy, what’s going to work for her long term that she needs to take a step back and think about someone else.” During the meetup, Emily touted the relationship-free time she’s had to cultivate herself and what she wants in a partner. The fact that Emily’s friends are not confident is a bad sign.

What Emily didn’t mention is how she can nurture the emotions of someone else and make them feel heard and accepted in the marriage. In any case, Emily and Brennan are married, and Married at First Sight viewers have a whole season to watch Emily sink or swim in this relationship. It is possible for her to have a redemption arc, but based on what viewers have seen so far, fundamental things are lacking, leading her to be unlikeable with the potential to ruin her marriage.

Married at First Sight airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST.
