Married At First Sight: New Spinoff Finds Partners For ‘Unmatchables’ Of Old Cast

In its 12 seasons, Married at First Sight has matched dozens of singles and even created some lasting marriages. But what about the prospective contestants who don’t make it on the show? In a new spinoff entitled Married at First Sight: Unmatchables, the experts provide one-on-one coaching to 16 singles in order to make them into marriage material.

The original iteration of Married at First Sight stars a team of experts who conduct an extensive interview process to match singles with their perfect spouse. The couples don’t meet each other until their wedding day when they are legally married. The hit Lifetime reality show then follows the couples as they navigate newlywed life, including moving in together, meeting each others’ family and friends, and getting to know the stranger who is their new spouse. At the end of the experiment, the couples sit down with the experts to decide whether they will remain married or get a divorce.

While this controversial premise has had varying degrees of success, over 65,000 singles have applied for the chance to be married at first sight. Unmatchables will follow 16 former applicants whom the experts did not believe were ready to be married. Pastor Calvin Roberson and Dr. Viviana Coles will provide personalized relationship coaching and lifestyle tips to each of the 16 contestants to address the problems in their lives that have prevented them from finding a long-term relationship. Each episode will feature two singles’ transformations before the experts set them up on a date that will hopefully lead to love.

Each single faces a unique challenge in their quest for a long-term relationship. 32-year-old Ashli hasn’t kissed a man in 11 years while 33-year-old Renise has very specific requirements for what she wants in the bedroom. 26-year-old Caleb is obsessed with perfecting his own looks while 29-year-old only child Frank is paralyzed by his parents’ expectations. Whether these singles bring an unconventional lifestyle to the table like 25-year-old funeral director Xavius, or must re-evaluate their relationship to dating like 27-year-old text addict Gabrielle, the Married at First Sight experts will try their best to set them up for success.

While fans await the premiere of Unmatchables on April 21, they can still enjoy the relationship drama on the currently-airing season 12 of Married at First Sight. In addition to the struggles inherent in being married to a stranger, the season 12 couples have had to deal with jealousy, intimacy issues, and even an unexpected pregnancy. Hopefully, the couples on Unmatchables will have an easier path to long-lasting love.
