Married At First Sight: All The Nasty Things Johnny Has Said About Bao

Neither Johnny Lam nor Bao Huong Hoang have been perfect spouses throughout their journey on Married At First Sight season 13, but Johnny has been criticized by fans for consistently making nasty comments about his wife. Johnny is quickly becoming one of the least popular husbands on Married At First Sight, as he never runs out of negative things to say about Bao. From claiming his wife isn’t genuine to leading Bao to think she’s disgusting for conveying joy, these are all of the meanest things Johnny has said about Bao on Married At First Sight season 13.

Johnny and Bao’s relationship was an uphill battle from the moment they saw each other at the altar. Although the premise of Married At First Sight is to embark on marriage with a stranger, Johnny and Bao knew each other before joining the reality dating series. Unfortunately, their pre-TV experience didn’t work in the newlyweds’ favor. Bao shared that she met Johnny in college, but when she tried to reach out to him, he ghosted her. Despite their controversial foundation, Bao was committed to giving her marriage with Johnny a real shot. Johnny, on the other hand, hasn’t been as convincing in his attempt to win over Bao. For as much progress as the couple makes, Johnny never fails to make rude comments that damage their headway.

It didn’t take long for Johnny to start making nasty comments about his wife. The Married At First Sight husband was frank about his lack of attraction to his wife from the jump. As Reality TV News World reported, Johnny explained how uncomfortable he felt kissing Bao while on Married At First Sight: Unfiltered. Johnny stated, “It kind of felt like kissing my sister.” Johnny further illustrated how much he was repulsed by Bao when he explained he was irritated by his wife when she looked happy. Johnny shared he finds Bao’s expression of joy to be a turnoff, prompting the spouse to believe Johnny was disgusted by her. Johnny was so put off by Bao’s happiness that he had to leave their apartment. Fans found it cruel of Johnny to have so many negative things to say about Bao’s joy.

On top of making disparaging remarks about Bao’s physical appeal, Johnny has also taken digs at his wife’s personality on Married At First Sight season 13. In a clip from a recent Married At First Sight episode, Johnny slammed Bao to Pastor Cal, claiming, “She’s not genuine.” Johnny went on to complain that Bao took credit for making meals they did together. Bao was quick to correct Johnny and remind him she made meals on her own and prepped for the meals they made together. Cal assessed that Johnny was trying to sabotage his marriage with Bao by attacking her character and calling her inauthentic for something as simple as taking credit for meals she made herself. Ultimately, Johnny shared, “I feel like I wish I had been matched with literally anyone else.” Even Pastor Cal called Johnny out for being mean with this unfeeling statement.

While Bao isn’t the perfect wife, fans consider her to be a hero for weathering the storm of insults she has received from her husband. From clarifying that he’d prefer to be married to “literally anyone else” to complaining about the way Bao looks when she’s happy, Johnny’s nasty comments were relentless. Johnny’s behavior toward Bao indicates that it’s unlikely the pair will stay together at the end of Married At First Sight.

Married At First Sight airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
