Mark Wahlberg Sets A Diaper-Changing Record In The Family Plan Clip [EXCLUSIVE]

Apple TV+’s new movie The Family Plan arrives on December 15 on the streaming service, and Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive clip from the action comedy. Starring Mark Wahlberg as a government assassin turned suburban dad, the film was directed by Simon Cellan Jones, who also collaborated with Wahlberg on the upcoming Arthur the King. Wahlberg will be joined onscreen by Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q, and Ciarán Hinds.

The Family Plan follows Dan Morgan (Wahlberg), who lives a quiet suburban life as a car salesman, loving husband, and proud father of three. Unbeknownst to his family and friends, however, he was once an elite government enforcer entrusted with the mission of eliminating threats worldwide. His past comes back to haunt him in the form of old enemies with present grudges, leading him to take his wife (Monaghan) and kids out of their comfort zone and on a last-minute trip to Las Vegas.

Known for its award-winning original content, the Apple TV+ catalog grows from month to month. Here’s everything new on Apple TV+ in December 2023.

The Family Plan Combines Spy Thriller With Feel-Good Comedy

Screen Rant‘s exclusive clip from The Family Plan highlights the domestic side of Dan’s personality, although he manages to spice things up with something of a competition. He times himself while changing his infant son’s diaper, setting a new record for completing the task and making the chore more enjoyable for both parties. The lighthearted family moment showcases both how easily Dan has adjusted to the role of father as well as how his past skills benefit his current lifestyle.

Wahlberg is best known for action movies, but he has often dipped his toe into more emotional material. Not only is next year’s Arthur the King set to tug at the heartstrings, but he also recently received rave reviews for his performance in Father Stu. Furthermore, The Family Plan lets him draw from his comedic chops, which he has displayed many times in movies like Daddy’s Home and Spenser Confidential. Genre-bending is a common trend, but the specific mix of family-centric comedy and spy-filled action plays to Wahlberg’s strengths as an actor — which makes sense given that he also serves as a producer on the project.
