Mark Wahlberg Hints At Retiring From Acting Soon

Mark Wahlberg has hinted at the possibility of retiring from acting soon to follow different ventures that he’s currently pursuing. Beginning his acting career in 1994, Wahlberg has starred in many memorable films such as Boogie Nights and The Other Guys. He is also an executive producer for multiple TV shows, including the critically praised HBO shows Ballers and Boardwalk Empire.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Walhberg expressed interest in stepping away from acting to pursue other ventures. He said his consideration has to do with his current pace of work, which could necessitate stepping away from the front of the camera. Check out what Wahlberg had to say below:

Well, I’m certainly working harder now than ever. Certain businesses, you kind of build them, pass them on or you exit. Hopefully my kids, we’ll see what their interests are, but I don’t think that I’ll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now. That’s for sure. Because that’s the most difficult thing.

Mark Wahlberg Hints At Retiring From Acting Soon

Wahlberg’s career in the entertainment industry began in 1991, when he was the lead singer of the group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. His first film role was in 1994’s Renaissance Man, while his first leading role was two years later in the psychological thriller Fear. Since then, Wahlberg has starred in a wide variety of genres, from comedies like Daddy’s Home to action films like Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Some of Wahlberg’s latest acting credits include being cast in Uncharted as Victory Sully, and starring alongside Kevin Hart in the Netflix comedy Me Time. In addition to his acting and executive producer careers, he also co-owns the restaurant chain Wahlburgers and has an ownership stake in Flecha Azul Tequila. He has also expressed interest in directing a film in the future, making his need to step away from acting while doing so much all the more understandable.

Just because Wahlberg is considering his acting retirement now doesn’t mean it will happen anytime soon. He is set to star in three upcoming movies, the adventure film Arthur the King, action flick Our Man from Jersey, and the comedy The Family Plan. He is also starring in Mel Gibson’s Flight Risk, though little is known about when the movie will arrive. Though retirement for Mark Wahlberg may be on the horizon, it seems the actor still has plenty of roles left to play in upcoming movies.
