Mark Ruffalo Reacts To Ms. Marvel Trailer, Welcomes Kamala Khan To MCU

Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Mark Ruffalo has shared his reaction to the Ms. Marvel trailer, welcoming the new superhero to the franchise. The trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series dropped on March 15, and has given fans a lot to talk about. In the latest look at the MCU series, the new Ms. Marvel trailer reveals that the hero’s origin story will most likely be very different from the original source material, as will her newfound powers.

The show will focus on Kamala Khan, played by MCU newcomers Iman Vellani. Khan is a Muslim, Pakistani-American high schooler who lives in Jersey City. A dreamer who is obsessed with superheroes (Captain Marvel in particular) Khan comes across the opportunity to become one herself when she gains cosmic powers. Although this is everything she’s ever wanted, the new Ms. Marvel still has to balance her life as both a hero and a teenager. The series will also star Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Amir, Matt Lintz as her friend Bruno Carrelli, and Aramis Knight as the vigilante Red Dagger. The Ms. Marvel series will be directed by a team consisting of a few different people, including Batgirl directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, plus Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Ruffalo, known for playing Bruce Banner/Hulk in the MCU, has shared his positive response to the Ms. Marvel trailer. Posting to his Twitter account, Rufflo praised Marvel for its diversity and inclusiveness, saying, “Love you, Marvel for reflecting the world we live in.” The actor then warmly welcomed Kamala as a new MCU hero. A welcome from an MCU icon like Ruffalo is certainly high praise for the newcomer Vellani. What’s more, other Marvel veterans have also shared their reactions to the new Ms. Marvel trailer. Brie Larson, who plays Kamala Khan’s idol Captain Marvel in the MCU and will star alongside her in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2, took to Twitter to say, “You ARE a superhero, Kamala.” One of Ms. Marvel’s original creators, G. Willow Wilson, also reacted to a shot in the trailer that shows her initials on the guidance counselor’s desk, pointing out the Easter egg by saying “Finally you know the truth: I am secretly a cool guidance counselor.

Although the trailer has received mixed feedback from fans due to the change in Ms. Marvel’s super-abilities, it is heartwarming to see these Marvel heavy-hitters responding to the character’s entry with positivity and encouragement. As a newcomer not only to the MCU, but to the professional acting world, Vellani may be feeling a lot of pressure, and the divisive reactions from fans is likely not comforting. Hopefully, the actor’s newfound Marvel family will evidently be there to guide her through this new and different experience. Already, it is very clear that Ruffalo will be joined by many MCU fans around the world in watching and welcoming the new Ms. Marvel.
