Mario Kart 8’s Ninja Hideaway Map Has a Glitch That Can Trap Players

It turns out that players can easily get stuck in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s Ninja Hideaway map, according to a recent tip video. Ninja Hideaway is one of the most well-received maps that have come through the ongoing rollout of new DLC for the most recent entry in the series – a rollout that is bringing remasters of several classic maps to Mario Kart 8.

Unique and diverse maps play a major part in any Mario Kart entry. These fantastical racecourses have a tenuous relationship with the laws of logic, gravity, and physics, allowing for a number of fun and seemingly impossible stunts from players. These courses are also typically filled with secret paths and shortcuts, which can give experienced or detail-oriented racers a competitive edge. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s collection of maps is constantly expanding, as Nintendo has promised to add a total of forty-eight new courses to the game by the end of 2023. These courses are remastered versions of ones from prior Mario Kart games and are releasing in waves, although Mario Kart players can pre-load the DLC courses ahead of their official rollout.

One of these new courses appears to contain a tricky bug for players to watch out for. According to the YouTube channel Gaming Reinvented (via Nintendo Life), racers who shoot off a particular ramp too soon can find themselves landing atop a sign. In most cases, they can simply slide off, potentially losing their position in the race as a result of their impatience. However, landing at a certain angle or too far to the left side of the sign can result in the player getting soft-locked on the sign. Gaming Reinvented demonstrates that no items can remedy this, and players in this position have no choice but to quit the race.

There are several aspects of Mario Kart that make it popular, but most would agree that its courses are significant and iconic staples of the series. With that said, many fans may be surprised that such a massive glitch could have slipped through the cracks when it comes to this DLC map, as it isn’t representative of the greater level of quality found in the franchise.

This DLC course is, of course, much newer than most, so it’s likely that Nintendo will be able to patch this glitch relatively soon. As shown in Gaming Reinvented’s video, it’s quite easy to get ensnared in this bug, which means that fixing it will be of the utmost importance. Hopefully, the other Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC courses launch without similar issues.
