Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Update Finally Fixes Coconut Mall

The latest update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has finally fixed an issue with the Coconut Mall stage that fans have been complaining about since the launch of the DLC. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is adding 48 new tracks as part of the Booster Course DLC, which fans can either purchase outright or receive access to via a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.

The Booster Course DLC adds content in Waves that include 8 tracks spread across two cups. In Booster Course Wave 1, the final track of the Golden Dash Cup was Coconut Mall, which originally debuted in Mario Kart Wii. In the original Nintendo Wii version of the track, at the end of a lap, there were NPC cars that would either contain Miis created by the player, or default ones for people who didn’t create lots of Miis. Once the player reached the end of the track, these cars would move forward or backward, acting as an annoying obstacle for the end of the race.

The version of Coconut Mall in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s DLC is different, in that it now contains Shy Guys as drivers. When Booster Course Wave 1 was released, fans were disappointed to learn that the cars no longer move and just sit static on the track. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Wave 2 is now available and the official Nintendo of America Twitter page has announced that there is also an update that fixes the issue with Coconut Mall.

The Cars In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Coconut Mall Move Again

In the updated version of Coconut Mall, the cars will now move when playing multiplayer or Grand Prix modes. The Shy Guys will spin their cars forward and backward during the last part of the lap, becoming moving obstacles once more. It should be noted that they will not perform this action during a Time Trial, so players who are attempting to beat their record and save Ghost Data won’t have to contend with any additional obstacles. This means Coconut Mall has risen to be one of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s best DLC tracks.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s DLC is adding a ton of new content to the game, bringing back classic tracks that haven’t been seen in years, introducing Mario Kart Tour tracks to the main series, and even debuting brand new stages. It’s good to see that the existing tracks are also being updated, as a lot of people were unhappy with the changes made to Coconut Mall in Wave 1. Now that Coconut Mall has received its crucial update, fans can now curse the developers for their diligence, as they crash into the free-riding Shy Guys at the end of the stage. The new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 tracks are all fantastic, but Coconut Mall is very much worth replaying following the update.

The Booster Course Pass Wave 2 DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now.
