Mace Windu’s War Against Jabba the Hutt Showcases His True Power

Mace Windu’s War Against Jabba the Hutt Showcases His True Power

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Mace Windu #3

Mace Windu goes to war with Jabba the Hutt in his brand-new Star Wars series. Set before the events of The Phantom Menace, the titular Jedi is out in the field trying to keep a rare new form of hyperspace fuel out of the wrong hands. Some of those wrong hands belong to none other than Jabba the Hutt, resulting in a major clash between Mace and an entire hit squad employed by the infamous Hutt gangster.

In Mace Windu #3 by Marc Bernardin and Georges Jeanty, Windu is protecting Azita Cruuz who’s carrying this new coaxium formula. Promising the formula would go to the Jedi in exchange for his help, Windu is all that stands between Azita and an entire squadron of enemy ships sent by Jabba who’d love nothing more than to obtain this new “coaxium ultra”, ensuring that the Republic would never be able to bother his ships ever again. Single-handedly dispatching all the Hutt’s forces in this new issue, it’s likely that Mace Windu has just made Jabba’s list in the Star Wars canon:

Although Mace Windu claims not to know who Jabba the Hutt is at this point in the Star Wars timeline, it stands to reason that he soon will as the series continues.

While giving an impressive monologue about a Jedi’s ability to achieve impossible feats, Mace Windu takes down multiple enemy fighters pursuing Azita Cruuz. Remarkably, this was done using nothing but the Force and his iconic purple lightsaber. Jumping from ship to ship, Mace Windu disables each of Jabba’s ships in quick succession until there are no longer any thugs after Cruuz and her land speeder.

One of the final thugs working for Jabba is humorously a member of the diminutive Anzellan species named Yaya Shram. The most famous Anzellan in the Star Wars canon is a droid mechanic named Babu Frik who debuted in The Rise of Skywalker. However, Yaya seems far more aggressive as an agent of Jabba the Hutt, doing all he can to seem menacing as he threatens Winud in this new Star Wars issue.

At any rate, one can imagine that Jabba the Hutt won’t be giving up on the coaxium ultra just yet. One could easily imagine the gangster sending Yaya some much-needed backup for a renewed offensive in future issues of Star Wars’ new Mace Windu series. However, the issue does end with Mace and Azita facing an all-new threat in the form of two assassins calling themselves “Dusk Weaves of the Had’le Path”. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if Jabba’s agents regroup and eventually strike back against Mace Windu in the near future.
