The beginning of One Piece‘s final saga sees Luffy provoking the World Government’s vile leaders, but his latest stunt has officially made him a Pirate King level threat. Egghead Island has included several twists and turns in an arc that has beautifully balanced both heartbreaking drama and epic action. Still, readers did not expect events to escalate to the point where Luffy would take on the highest authorities of the World Government: the Five Elders.
Saint Jaygarcia Saturn entered One Piece‘s Egghead Island with the hopes of helping Admiral Kizaru assassinate Dr. Vegapunk, but what he found was a lot more than he bargained for. One Piece chapter #1109 featured Gear 5 Luffy getting the better of the Glint-Fruit using Admiral and angering the Warrior God of Science and Defense, Gorosei member Saint Saturn. However, the situation is about to change after Saturn summoned reinforcements.
The chapter may have ended with one of One Piece‘s greatest cliffhangers: to fight Luffy’s Nika transformation and stop Dr. Vegapunk’s likely incriminating broadcast to the world, Saturn has summoned four allies. Judging by Sanji and Luffy’s reaction, the rest of the Five Elders are about to arrive on the island, a scary encounter that, as far as readers know, not even Gol D. Roger had to deal with.

Luffy Has Angered The Elders Like Roger Never Did

As of chapter #1109 of the One Piece manga, the previous Pirate King Gol D. Roger has yet to be known to have encountered the Five Elders during his journey to Laugh Tale. If they had encountered him, he likely would have either lost or defeated at least some of them. Still, Saturn is summoning the remaining four Elders to combat Luffy, which, as far as readers know, it’s a completely unprecedented event. In that case, Luffy will officially be more wanted by the World Government than Roger ever was because the former Pirate King supposedly did not summon the ire of the five highest-ranking Celestial Dragons.
Roger’s life is filled with many of One Piece‘s secrets, especially concerning his battle on God Valley, where he seemingly teamed up with Garp to save Celestial Dragon lives and defeat the Rocks Pirates. During the flashback of Kuma’s life, it was revealed that Saturn was also on God Valley. Roger might have had a run-in with the Elder there, but still, the Straw Hat Captain is currently the only thing standing between the Wrath of the Five Elders and Dr.Vegapunk’s message broadcasting the World Government’s heinous secrets, a situation more dire than any of Roger’s that have been revealed so far.

The Elders Want Nika Dead And Vegapunk’s Knowledge Silenced
Not long ago, the defeat of Kaido and Big Mom elevated Luffy and his crew to new heights of notoriety. Still, that was nothing compared to the events on Egghead Island, which put Luffy directly in the crosshairs of the Five Elders who are the supposed rulers of the world. Luffy will likely need to reach Laugh Tale before officially earning the title Roger once held. But the fact that he’s forced all of the Five Elders to face him in battle already puts Luffy on a wanted level fitting for One Piece‘s Pirate King.
