Lucifer Season 6 Will Have A Time Jump From Season 5B

Lucifer Season 6 Will Have A Time Jump From Season 5B

Lucifer showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have revealed that season 6 of the hit Netflix drama will see a time jump for its final season. The series centers on the DC Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg introduced in The Sandman comics before getting his own spinoff comics. The ensemble cast for the series includes Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia.

The fantasy police procedural focuses on the titular lord of Hell as he chooses to leave his domain and come to Los Angeles, subsequently falling for an LAPD detective and using his powers of manipulating humans to reveal their true intentions to help her solve crimes. Originally airing on Fox for its first three seasons, Lucifer became a Netflix original after it was canceled by the primetime network and saved by the streamer. Season 5B of the series sees the titular protagonist face off against his scheming twin brother Michael following the arrival of their father God and his revelation he would be retiring with the hopes of one of his sons taking on the mantle.

In an interview with ET, showrunners Modrovich and Henderson broke down a number of the shockers from the newly-premiered season 5B of the series. When asked whether the final season will see a time jump akin to season 5A, they both confirmed it would, though kept mum on the exact timing, with Henderson noting “we’re not going to jump that far“. Modrovich also joked:

“We just start with Lucifer and Chloe in the old age home. Just doing… Water aerobics. Yeah. Why not?! [Laughter]”

Lucifer Season 6 Will Have A Time Jump From Season 5B

The concept of a time jump is not unheard of for the Netflix drama, with seasons 4 and 5 taking the story’s timelines a bit forward between their prior chapters. But given the jaw-dropping finales of both Lucifer season 5A and 5B, the choice to move things along without immediately addressing what every character is now facing going into the final chapter could be worrisome. Looking back at the past couple of seasons of the series and Modrovich and Henderson’s comments, one can probably assume the time jump will be within a month or two of the events of season 5B.

Even if the final season of Netflix’s Lucifer does choose to take a longer narrative leap from the most recent chapter, there’s sure to be a lot of exciting things to come for fans upon its return. Given production has already concluded on Lucifer season 6 of the series, more teases of what can be expected in the final 10 episodes should start rolling viewers way in the coming months. In the meantime, fans will have plenty of time to get caught up with season 5B now available to stream.
