Lucasfilm’s Massive Shake-Up Is Good News For Ahsoka Season 2

The newest shake-up at Lucasfilm is great news for Ahsoka season 2. Thanks to Dave Filoni’s brand-new role overseeing the Star Wars franchise, it appears as though an overarching vision is being put in place for the future. As such, this should be great news for the future of Ahsoka considering the success of its first season.

It’s recently been reported that writer, director, and showrunner Dave Filoni has been promoted to Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer in charge of overseeing all Star Wars content. As such, Filoni will now be offering key insight and advice on all Star Wars projects being developed by Lucasfilm, not unlike Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. As such, this should prove to be very good news regarding Ahsoka season 2.

Dave Filoni’s Promotion Is An Endorsement Of His Vision

That Includes Ahsoka And Its Future

The fact that Dave Filoni has been promoted to such an important position at Lucasfilm proves just how much faith the studio and parent company Disney have in him. Having been hired by George Lucas to helm the Clone Wars animated series which began airing in 2008, Filoni has been a major part of Star Wars’ ongoing projects ever since. This includes the Star Wars Rebels animated series, the live-action shows set in the New Republic timeline, and most recently Ahsoka.

Having learned from the master and creator of Star Wars himself, it’s incredibly fitting that Filoni has now been put in such a critical role that will guide the Star Wars franchise on an even greater level than he already was. It’s proof that Lucasfilm is endorsing his overarching vision for the galaxy far, far away. While he’s already set to direct The Mandalorian movie that’s currently in development, he’s now going to have in hand in everything (a truly exciting prospect all around). Furthermore, this certainly increases the chances of Ahsoka season 2 being officially greenlit (which at this point seems like a formality).

What WIll Ahsoka Season 2 Be About?

As confirmed by Ahsoka actress Rosario Dawson, Filoni has begun to outlining ideas of Ahsoka season 2. Combined with his major new role at Lucasfilm, a second season is all but a certainty in the near future. Considering the massive cliffhanger in Ahsoka’s finale involving Thrawn’s return, Baylan Skoll’s discovery of the Mortis Gods, and Ahsoka being stranded on Peridea with Sabine, there’s so much that needs to be followed up on that will hopefully be seen in Ahsoka season 2 and/or beyond in the Star Wars galaxy.
