Love Island UK season 8 contestant Davide Sanclimenti has lost popularity among fans because of his comments about the female Islanders. Davide, 27, was the first “bombshell” to enter the villa and he impressed other Islanders with his handsome appearance. However, it quickly became obvious to viewers that the “Italian stallion” had a bit too big an ego.
During the season, there has been a romance between Davide and co-contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. At one point, the duo had an explosive argument after Ekin-Su decided to make a move on another Islander, Jay Younger. As a result, Davide’s ego took a massive hit. The situation escalated into a conflict where Davide berated the Turkish actress in front of other Islanders. Later, fan favorite Ekin-Su and Davide ended up crossing paths again, and they tried to reconcile. Many fans thought that Ekin-Su brought out Davide’s funny and likable character traits.
However, the couple’s rekindled flame didn’t have time to ignite properly before Casa Amor’s new singles arrived and stirred the pot. It wasn’t long until Davide cracked on with the new women and trash-talked Ekin-Su to the other contestants. Davide wasn’t the only Islander whose head was turned by the attractive newcomers. When the villa’s men were talking about their interest in the Casa Amor singles, Davide outraged fans with his comments about another Islander, Indiyah Polack. Indiyah is currently coupled up with Dami Hope, whose head has started to turn towards Casa Amor’s Summer Botwe. During the men’s chat, Davide told Dami that Summer was an “upgrade” to Indiyah.
After the episode with Davide’s nasty comment aired, a Reddit user @betterinthesouth started a thread asking for viewers’ opinions of the man. A lot of fans thought that Davide had been throwing around misogynistic remarks all season, especially towards Ekin-Su. However, for many, the latest comment about Indiyah was the last straw. A Redditor @CDASH96 said, “The comment he [Davide] made about Indiyah…I literally couldn’t care less about him now.” Another user, @hotshotgirl23, also expressed their disappointment in Davide, saying, “I was only rooting for him because of my girl Ekin-Su. I need better for Ekin.” Many Love Island fans brought up the Italian’s general lack of respect for women, as well as his arrogant and rude attitude. A Reddit user @nickiminhaj raised the point that while Davide can be unintentionally funny and an overall entertaining character, he’s just “honestly not a good guy.“
It appears that many viewers are now over Davide because of his behavior. Some fans have pointed out that Davide’s language barrier issues can sometimes be the cause of his questionable statements. However, most fans seem to think that despite the language barrier, the disrespectful tone in his comments is more than obvious.
