The trailer for Hellhound succinctly sets up Loreno’s (Mandylor) predicament, but it is a story with which most action audiences will be familiar. Little is known of Loreno’s backstory based on the trailer, but it is clear that the guilt of past sins weighs him down — and a resume that has garnered him many enemies. Saban Films has turned action thrillers into an art form, and 2023 has been a massively productive year for them in the genre. The production and distribution studio has tackled countless angles, from Ambush, Supercell, and Assassin at the start of the year to Mob Land, Due Justice, and the upcoming Ruthless near the end, Furthermore, they successfully branched out into Westerns with The Old Way and Butcher’s Crossing, both starring Nicolas Cage. Mandylor is sure to continue the trend of hyper-competent leading men in extraordinary circumstances in Hellhound, which has a runtime of 103 minutes and is rated R for strong violence, language, and some sexual material.
