Loki Season 2 Pitch Meeting

Loki Season 2 Pitch Meeting

With it continuing to be one of the most successful shows for the franchise, the latest episode of Screen Rant‘s Pitch Meeting series is taking a look at Loki season 2. The new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe show saw Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief complete his arc into a hero as he sacrificed himself to keep the branching multiverse structured in place of He Who Remains’ Temporal Loom. Season 2 garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and drew in large viewership for Disney+.

Just a month after the show’s ending, Screen Rant‘s Pitch Meeting is breaking down Loki season 2. The episode, as seen at the top of this article, pokes fun at some of the time travel craziness of the MCU show and how it allows its creative team to skirt around some of the more convoluted storytelling. The video also mocks Marvel’s recent focus on increasing their Disney+ output and how it’s led to some of the superhero fatigue felt by audiences of late.

Why Loki Continues To Be A Standout Of The Disney+ MCU Crowd

Though WandaVision before it saw plenty of acclaim from critics, the general consensus has maintained that Loki is the best of the MCU shows on Disney+ across its two seasons. While its successors sought to explore a different genre within the franchise for their respective stories, be it the espionage-driven The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or the grounded action-comedy tone of Hawkeye, the surreal comedy of the Hiddleston-led show continued to keep audiences hooked across its 12 episodes.

The other major benefit behind the show’s run was audiences general love of Loki before the show’s premiere. Since his MCU debut in 2011’s Thor, the character garnered praise for his unique relationship with Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder, as well as his status as a more sympathetic villain, having been pulled from his home and potential kept at bay by Anthony Hopkins’ Odin. Additionally, his subsequent appearances in Thor: The Dark World and Ragnarok, and initial death in Avengers: Infinity War found viewers enjoying his development into more of an antihero, an arc properly explored within Loki.

With season 2 doubling down on this development for an effective closing of his arc while still balancing fleshing out the show’s supporting characters, namely Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie and Owen Wilson’s Mobius, Loki remained consistently at the top of its game with its latest episodes. While leaving the door open for future MCU stories, including an important role for Hiddleston heading into both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, season 2 also offered meaningful endings for the story set up within the show itself. Given many other MCU projects have been accused of only existing to set up future projects, Loki‘s self-contained nature gave audiences a breath of fresh air in an increasingly bloated franchise.
