Loki Season 2 Introduces A Character Who May Have More TVA Power Than He Who Remains

A Loki season 2 new character might be more powerful within the Time Variance Authority than He Who Remains. Before playing Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the He Who Remains variant of Kang in Loki season 1. The character had a bloody fate, as Loki season 1’s ending set open the MCU’s multiverse after Sylvie killed He Who Remains. Now, a Loki season 2 character might be revealed to have even more TVA power than Majors’ character, teasing the new season’s story.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Loki executive producer Kevin Wright teased what role Ke Huy Quan’s OB, an exciting addition to Loki season 2’s cast, plays in the new season of the Marvel series. According to Wright, OB is in charge of the technology at the TVA, with the producer revealing that where every piece of technology in the TVA is concerned, OB “either designed it, or he fixes it and keeps it running.” That gives OB a potentially bigger power over the TVA than He Who Remains had. “His job is basically every piece of tech, every computer, every thing that is running at the TVA. He either designed it, or he fixes it and keeps it running.”

How OB Fits Into Loki Season 2

Ke Huy Quan as OB in Loki season 2 trailer

Loki season 2’s trailer showed what fans should expect from the new season’s time-hopping adventure, also featuring the first look at Quan’s MCU debut, with OB working at the TVA’s “Repairs and Advancement” division. Loki‘s executive producer commenting on how OB is responsible for all the technology at work at the TVA builds upon the trailer’s reveal, with OB’s technological acumen set to play a big role in the new season.

OB was shown to be the person Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius goes to in order to discover what is the mysterious condition that Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is suffering from. As trailers and other promotional footage have focused on Loki “time-slipping,” and given that OB was the one to name the condition in the show’s trailer, it seems like Quan’s character will be helping Thor’s brother deal with his dangerous situation throughout Loki season 2.

With the TVA being reformed in Kang the Conqueror’s image at the end of Loki season 1, it remains to be seen where OB’s allegiances lie. If the new character is confirmed to be against the Kang variants ruling the TVA, OB would be a valuable ally for Loki and Mobius to have. The newcomer’s power over the TVA’s technology could prove crucial in Loki season 2, as the main Kang variant teased for the new season of the Disney+ series, Victor Timely, is known for being an inventor. OB and Timely going head-to-head with their technological abilities could play a major role in Loki season 2’s story.
