Loki Reportedly Casts Walking Dead Star, Possibly As Young Enchantress

The cast of Marvel’s Disney+ series Loki continues to grow, with The Walking Dead‘s Cailey Fleming reportedly joining the cast. Officially announced last year, Loki will see the return of the titular God of Mischief, again played by Tom Hiddleston. The series, expected on Disney+ in spring 2021, will follow the version of Loki that disappeared with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame and will reportedly include time travel. This seems to be supported by the glimpse of Loki seen in Marvel’s Super Bowl TV spot, which appeared to show Loki being detained by the Time Variance Authority, an organization from the comics that monitors the multiverse.

In addition to Hiddleston, Loki‘s cast includes Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Owen Wilson, all in unknown roles. Recent set photos might indicate Di Martino is playing Lady Loki, which was rumored when Di Martino was initially cast. Aside from that potential tidbit as well as the time travel element, plot and character details have been kept closely under wraps. However, a recent addition to the show’s IMDb page might shed more light on a potential storyline.

As noted by Geeks Worldwide, Fleming was added to Loki‘s IMDbPro page. Fleming currently stars on AMC’s The Walking Dead as Judith Grimes and has previously appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a young Rey. What’s also notable about Fleming’s IMDb entry is that she is listed as playing Young Sylvie. This presumably is a reference to Sylvie Lushton, a mortal girl who goes on to become Enchantress. In the comics, Loki gives her powers simply because he wants to stir up some mischief.

Other comics characters rumored to appear in Loki include Kang the Conqueror and Sera, who would be the MCU’s first transgender character. Of course, at this stage everything should be taken lightly, as the show is still in early production and things change. Of the things that seem certain, Hiddleston has previously said that Loki will definitively answer fans’ questions regarding Loki’s intention with the Tesseract and his supposedly final death in Avengers: Infinity War.

Loki has the opportunity to bring a lot more mischief into the MCU, and the potential inclusion of Sylvie seems to indicate the show will lean into that. With a character as vivid and beloved as Loki, it’ll be important that the supporting characters around him are all able to stand on their own and interest audiences. Anticipation is high for Loki, and the teases that have emerged so far suggest the show might stick the landing.

Loki will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
