Logan Lerman reacts to Noah becoming a streaming hit a decade later. Noah is a 2014 biblical epic directed by Black Swan’s Darren Aronofsky, telling the story of the mission of Noah after he is chosen by God to take part on a momentous mission before an apocalyptic flood cleanses the world. Among a Noah cast including Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connolly, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, and Ray Winstone, Lerman plays Noah’s son Ham in the epic film.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Lerman reacts to Noah becoming a streaming success in 2024. When prompted to speak on the success, Lerman initially “had no idea” that the film had experienced the resurgence that it did. Lerman went on to talk about how Noah “was a really cool project to work on” and praised the “streaming age” for its ability to allow people to rediscover films. Oh, did it? That’s cool, I had no idea. That’s one of the coolest things about the streaming age is that movies can be in shows can be rediscovered. Time can go by and people can find it again. That was a really cool project to work on. It’s cool to hear that people still want to watch it. It’s nice.
Noah’s Netflix Resurgence Explained
Noah received decent critical reviews at the time of its release 10 years ago, getting a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans did not like it at the time, however, as the audience approval rating is only a 41%. At the box office, Noah brought in $359 million worldwide. While this is a reasonable sum, the estimated budget for Noah was a massive $125 million, which it did not manage to make back in its $101 million domestic gross. Thus, Noah’s success story in 2014 was a mixed bag.

In 2024, Noah has seen an unexpected comeback on Netflix. During the week of March 4–March 10, Noah squeaked its way on the Netflix global top 10, taking the no. 10 slot with 2.7 million views. The film stayed on the global top 10 the following week, this time rising to no. 5 with 3.5 million views. Noah fell from its top 10 status on the list last week, as the global top 10 was instead dominated by Irish Wish, Damsel, Shooter, and Ford v. Ferrari.
Even though Noah has lost its Netflix spot, the fact that it came back and maintained its status at all is impressive. Since Noah, Aronofsky’s work has been hit or miss critically, directing divisive films like mother! and The Whale. Audiences in 2014 may have been on the naysaying side for Noah, but it seems they have come around as the film has gotten Netflix success.
