Live-Action Webstor Design Should Be Used In A Masters of the Universe Movie

New fan art imagining an excellently creepy live-action Webstor design should absolutely be in the Masters of the Universe movie. The Masters of the Universe world began as a toy line in 1982 and eventually grew to encompass numerous different mediums. From television and comics to films and video games, Masters of the Universe has covered all the bases. The series primarily focuses on heroes He-Man and She-Ra as they combat the villainous Skeletor on the planet Eternia. The franchise will get a new series with Netflix’s upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation, but the film side is currently stalled.

A live-action Masters of the Universe film has been in the works since 2007, but it has suffered many setbacks during development. The project has changed hands several times over the years; most recently, Aaron and Adam Nee signed on to direct. Masters of the Universe even has a leading man attached, with Noah Centineo set to star as He-Man. However, Sony pulled the film from the release calendar earlier this year, and it’s unclear as to when it will be rescheduled (if it will at all).

Nevertheless, fans are still interested in a live-action Masters of the Universe film, and one particular artist, georgeevangelista, has come up with several incredible designs for various characters. The latest imagines a live-action Webstor, and Sony should seriously be taking notes. This design could fit in perfectly with the Masters of the Universe film. Check it out down below.

Like the rest of those who populate the Masters of the Universe world, Webstor is typically depicted to be a bit more cartoonish. As a blue-skinned villain with the abilities of a spider, Webstor could easily be designed to look rather campy and unthreatening. However, the above design looks like it could come from a horror film; this Webstor is genuinely terrifying. It’s unclear whether Sony is even interested in pursuing a scarier Masters of the Universe, but if they are, they should ask georgeevangelista to consult.

At this point in time, art is the closest thing fans will get to updates about the live-action Masters of the Universe. Sony just managed to complete another movie that was once trapped in development hell – the Tom Holland-starring Uncharted – so perhaps the studio will now find time to revive Masters of the Universe. In the meantime, though, fans also have Netflix’s upcoming series to fill the void left by the recently finished She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. At least the Masters of the Universe will live on somehow, even if it isn’t on the big screen.
