Lindsay Lohan’s New Netflix Movie Is A Romance Dud On Rotten Tomatoes

Irish Wish has earned star Lindsay Lohan another dismal Rotten Tomatoes score. The new Netflix movie stars Lohan as a woman whose wish to be marrying her friend’s fiancé is granted while she’s in Ireland at their destination wedding, leading to a comedy of errors that helps her learn who her real soulmate is. The movie, which was directed by Janeen Damian, features an ensemble cast that also includes Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Ayesha Curry, and Jane Seymour.

Now that Netflix’s Irish Wish has debuted, critics have shared their full thoughts on the movie and Rotten Tomatoes has aggregated an official score for the movie. With 34 critics weighing in, the movie has received a thoroughly Rotten score of 38%. While the score could still fluctuate as more reviews are added, this marks the star’s 13th splat out of 21 movies that have received scores on the aggregator service so far.

How Irish Wish Compares to the Rest of Lindsay Lohan’s Career

While the Irish Wish star has just added yet another Rotten score to her repertoire, the new movie is far from Lohan’s worst-reviewed movie. In fact, it’s only her tenth worst-reviewed movie on Rotten Tomatoes. This places it roughly in the middle of the ranking of her movies, holding a position as the fourth-highest Rotten score she holds. Below, check out her bottom 10 titles on the platform:

Irish Wish (2024)

Of her movies without critic scores, an additional three have Rotten audience scores. Those titles would be 2000’s Life-Size (48%), 2019’s Among the Shadows (21%), and 2012’s Liz and Dick (17%). Although five of her eight Fresh scores are so strong that they have been Certified Fresh by the platform, all of those Certified titles were released in 2010 or before. Though the star took a long break from regular acting roles beginning in the mid-2010s, her lack of general critical success has lasted some time even discounting that period.

However, the Irish Wish reviews don’t necessarily mean that Lohan’s onscreen future is full of even more splats. Her comeback movie, the Netflix holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas (62%), earned her first Fresh score in ten years. That was followed by a cameo appearance in the 2024 Mean Girls musical (70%), which also earned a Fresh score. If her upcoming projects, including the Netflix movie Our Little Secret, can continue this trend, her career may still experience a critical renaissance despite this current stumble.
