Lilo & Stitch Live Action Remake Casts No Time To Die Actor In Mystery Role

No Time to Die actor Billy Magnussen has been cast in the upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch in an undisclosed mystery role. The 2002 original animated film followed a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo being raised by her sister Nani following the death of their parents. She discovers and adopts Stitch, an alien experiment being hunted across the galaxy. The film was a critical success for telling a heartwarming tale about family.

According to Deadline, the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch remake will feature Magnussen in an undisclosed role. He will be joining Zach Galifianakis as well as newcomer Maia Kealoha, who will be playing Lilo. There is currently no information as to what roles anyone in the film will be playing aside from Kealoha.

Magnussen will be joining a team of talented people who are dedicated to adapting Lilo & Stitch into a live-action movie. Dean Fleischer Camp, best known for his work on Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, is set to direct the adaptation, with writer Chris Kekaniokalani Bright also involved. Camp’s previous work in comedy and drama will help bring life to Lilo & Stitch while keeping the heart of the original intact.

It’s unclear who Magnussen will be playing in the film, given that many human characters in Lilo & Stitch are people of color. Because of this, there’s a good chance that Magnussen and Galifianakis will be playing some of the alien characters featured in the film. While one of them could be the voice of Stitch, there’s just as high a chance they feature as Jumba and Pleakley, two comedic aliens hunting for Stitch.

Given the mystery surrounding Magnussen’s role, there’s also a chance he is playing a villain, such as Captain Gantu. Because the alien characters are likely to be CGI with actors’ voices featured instead of their likenesses, many possibilities would be open for Magnussen’s role if he were playing an alien. How he fits into the Lilo & Stitch film remains to be seen, but may grow clearer as the film continues developing.
