Lilo & Stitch & 9 Other Animated Disney Characters, Reimagined As Live-Action, By Fans

Disney has made a concerted effort to reissue many of their classic animated features as live action films. Some of them are retellings, like The Lion King and Aladdin. Others have many differences compared to the original, like Maleficent and Mulan. Although many animated Disney movies have been translated into live-action, there are still others that haven’t … yet.

Although fans will have to wait for these movies to be remade, it’s still nice to think about what these famous characters would look like in a live-action reimagining. Fanart is just one way in which fans have taken animated Disney movies and interpreted their look through the lens of live-action.

Moana

Fans won’t have far to go to find out what a Moana film might look like in live-action because artist Jirka Vinse has created this lifelike fanart of Moana.

Moana looks nearly identical to her animated counterpart, with barely any changes to her design. If Disney were to move forward with a live-action version of Moana, many fans would surely be pleased if Moana looked like she does here.

The Princess And The Frog

The Princess and the Frog could make a beautiful transition from animation to live-action. The bustling streets of New Orleans and the firefly-lit skies of the bayous would be interesting to see pulled off in live-action. While fans will have to wait longer for this, there is some fan art that shows what a live-action version of Princess Tiana could potentially look like.

In this fanart by helun_morgun, Tianais played by Rihanna. Rihanna has starred in Annie, Home, and Ocean’s 8. Given how she’s both an actress and a singer, she’d be able to play Tiana, as well as sing her memorable songs.

Frozen

Frozen is one of Disney’s most successful franchises. As such, a live-action film would have all eyes on it. If fans want to know what a live-action Elsa might look like, they can turn to Carloz Gzz’s interpretation.

In this fanart of live-action Elsa, the snow queen is played by actress Emelia Clarke. Clarke has been in popular movies and shows like Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Terminator Genisys. With such notable works under her belt, she’d easily be able to play Elsa.

The Little Mermaid

The next live-action remake Disney is working on is The Little Mermaid, and they’ve already cast singer Halle Bailey as Ariel. Fans can hardly wait to get an official look at the new Ariel, but for now, this fanart by leoshki provides an accurate look as to what many can imagine.

The fanart not only has Ariel, but it also provides a look at what Flounder and Sebastian might look in live-action. With fanart as detailed and immersive as this, it’s hard to imagine the official movie looking any different.

Hercules

Of all the Disney villains, Hades, from Hercules, often stands out as the best. He’s charming, charismatic, and often considered the most fun character in the film. He’s certainly a character that fans want to see in a live-action version of Hercules, which is why this fanart by sweenyswoot is so gratifying.

In this fanart, Hades is played by Tom Hiddleston, who also plays Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given that Loki and Hades share many similarities, Hiddleston is an obvious choice to play the God of the Underworld.

Treasure Planet

One Disney film that often flies under people’s radar is Treasure Planet. It features the usual quality animation and music from Disney, but for some reason, it’s always been overlooked by a majority of Disney fans. In spite of not receiving as much attention as other films, fans would still be interested in seeing a live-action interpretation.

Fortunately, bimawithpencil provides a nice look at what Jim Hawkins may look like in a live-action Treasure Planet. In this fanart, Jim is played by Tom Holland, who’s most popularly known as Spider-Man in the MCU. Given that he plays Peter Parker so well, he’d no doubt be a great choice to play Jim.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs

Being Disney’s first animated movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is among their most important films. Just as people were excited to see Disney’s animated version of the story, they’re eager to see the live-action version. This fanart by marcus_scara provides a good look at how Snow White could appear in a live-action version of the film.

Here, Snow White is played by Margot Robbie. Robbie has starred in movies such as Peter Rabbit, Suicide Squad, and Birds of Prey. Given the range between her roles, she would be a notable choice to play Snow White.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Another Disney film that often slips past people is Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Like Treasure Planet, it isn’t brought up as often as other Disney films, but fans still want to know how it would look in live-action. Thankfully, this fanart by finalgirl.edits shows what the whole main cast might look like.

Many well-known actors and actresses are cast in this fanart, including Zendaya as Kida, Jennifer Lawrence as Helga, and Terry Crews as Joshua. With an all-star cast like this, this is certainly a live-action film that fans would look forward to.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of Tim Burton’s most popular films. It’s a beautiful stop-motion film that doubles as both a Christmas and a Halloween movie. No matter what time of year fans watch it, it’s just as spectacular.

Even though the animated film stands out among Disney movies, fans would still be interested in a live-action version. In this fanart by xandersmith_design, Billie Eilish plays Sally. Although Eilish hasn’t done much acting, she’d be an interesting choice to play her.

Lilo And Stitch

Disney has no shortage of adorable characters, including Baby Dory and Thumper the Rabbit. However, out of all of them, Stitch is often praised as the cutest. He’s small, fluffy, and absolutely cuddly. While there have been many Lilo and Stich films, fans would still want Stitch’s cuteness represented in live-action.

Fans can get a pretty good idea of how a live-action Stitch would look like in this fanart by Camtoonist. Stitch retains his cute fluffiness, and he’s having fun playing at the beach. If Stitch looked like this in a live-action version of the film, fans would be rest assured that the film’s in good hands.
