Lil Gator Game Is an Adorable Indie About Making Friends

Playtonic Friends has just announced Lil Gator Game, a cute and colorful roleplaying adventure title that’s all about making friends in a bright and colorful cel-shaded world. The UK-based indie publisher is all too familiar with friendly cartoon reptiles, having helped release the 2017 old school platforming throwback Yooka-Laylee and its 2019 follow-up, Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair alongside former members of Rare.

In a press release earlier today, Playtonic Friends announced that it has joined forces with a new indie developer named MegaWobble to publish Lil Gator Game, which Steam users can now add to their Wish Lists. Players will control the titular Lil Gator, a young boy who sets off on a colorful adventure to make new friends after his older sister grows up. Using a “packed tool-box of toys & abilities,” Lil Gator will climb and jump across a tropical island as he meets new friends and embarks on a wholesome adventure shaped in part by MegaWobble’s personal experiences as gamers. Lil Gator Game looks to be a cute and wholesome journey that sports colorful, cel-shaded graphics inspired by The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker and a potentially heartwarming story of growing up and meeting new friends. Players will get to see more of Lil Gator Game for themselves during the Indie Land event this Saturday, with another appearance at next week’s Steam Next Feast ahead of its planned release for Steam and Nintendo Switch sometime next year.

Lil Gator Game arrives on PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
