Let’s Be Real: Did Captain Jason Made The Wrong Decision Firing Adam On Below Deck: Down Under?

Captain Jason Chambers from Below Deck Down Under fired Deckhand Adam Kodra, but it’s believed he deserved to stay on the yacht. The Brooklyn native recently made a mark on reality TV when he debuted on Below Deck Down Under season 2. He joined Captain Jason’s yacht as a deckhand alongside Harry Van Vliet and Culver Bradbury. From day 1, Adam impressed the crew members with his personality and sweet nature. While he was the most inexperienced at his job, he still won everyone’s hearts by being obedient. He ignored former Stew Laura Bileskalne’s advances and focused on work.

Adam had a great journey on Below Deck Down Under. He made friends, had a good relationship with Jason, and didn’t cross anyone’s boundaries. Unfortunately, Adam made a dangerous mistake, which led Captain Jason to fire him in episode 13. The issue happened when Adam accidentally released the anchor on a moving yacht. While it didn’t result in anything major, it was an error that the Captain couldn’t ignore. As a result, he had to let Adam go.

The Below Deck Down Under Crew Praised Adam Post-Firing

Adam took his firing well. While his journey on Below Deck Down Under was cut short, he still made many memories and friends who still loved him. In fact, various cast members took to Instagram to praise Adam as an excellent co-worker. Fellow Deckhand Harry wrote, “see you soon bro,” and told him not to let the firing stop him from working on super yachts. Bosun João Franco shared a post and defended Captain Jason. He also wrote, “Adam, my boy you are scholar and gentlemen.” Everyone paid tribute to Adam on social media, from Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph to Stews Jaimee Neale and Margot Sisson.

Captain Jason also gave his two cents on Adam’s firing and why it was nothing personal. He wrote on Instagram, “I still need to be the captain, and these decisions are based off my experience and safety.” The Below Deck Down Under star explained that Adam was a decent deckhand and an asset to the team. However, the yacht needed someone with more experience. Jason shared that Captains often have to make tough decisions, and letting Adam go was extremely tough. He added, “If I had a yacht with time and man power to accommodate moving others around and training I certainly would have him in my team.”

Seeing all the love for Adam makes it seem like Captain Jason made the wrong decision. Adam was an excellent worker and could have learned a lot if he had the chance. Unfortunately, the Captain didn’t have the space or the time to train him on the yacht. Firing a good employee isn’t always easy. However, Jason wore multiple hats and had to think of everyone’s safety above anything else. He fired Adam only because he couldn’t put the yacht, his crew, the Below Deck Down Under production crew, and the guests at risk.
