Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga — 10 Non-Star Wars Easter Eggs

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga — 10 Non-Star Wars Easter Eggs

As is the case with pretty much all Star Wars content, especially these days, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is littered with Easter eggs and references, but not just to other Star Wars product. There is a slew of movies and TV shows of all kinds that have fun Easter eggs for players to discover in this game to go alongside the many references to the galaxy far, far away.

Whether they be hidden Easter eggs the player has to work for or references as simple as mission titles and wordplay, the game is filled to the brim with homages to other famous properties in pop culture.

Taken (2008)

As most people know, Liam Neeson did not only portray the brilliant Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace but was the lead in the action film Taken, in which he has an iconic line.

That line gets referenced in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga when Qui-Gon Jinn says, “I have a particular set of skills that will come in handy here,” usually during a puzzle. Of course, Qui-Gon is not voiced by Neeson in this game, but it is still a fun reference.

Better Call Saul

One thing that this game does better than other Lego video games is the sheer amount of content in it, such as the incredible amount of puzzles, side missions, and main missions, many of which reference various movies and shows such as Better Call Saul.

There is one particular mission titled “Better Call Maul,” which is a clear Easter egg to the prequel series. Funnily enough, Maul’s respawn quote is “No more half-measures,” which is obviously a reference to his being cut in half but also ties into Breaking Bad through Mike Ehrmantraut.

Shrek (2001)

While Disney and Pixar dominate the world of animated films that are ingrained into pop culture, there are exceptions, and there may not be one more iconic than Shrek, which has an easy-to-miss Easter egg in this game.

On Tatooine, specifically Mos Eisley Spaceport, there is a Toydarian whom the player can talk to who dons the exact color scheme of Shrek, with the green skin and white and brown rags. The open-world aspect of the game is one of the many cool new features that make it so brilliant to explore and play through, and has many Easter eggs like this one.

The Goonies (1985)

Based on a story from Stephen Spielberg, who has a strong connection to Star Wars, Richard Donner’s 80s hit The Goonies is a beloved film, which gets a fun reference in this game.

One of the lynchpins of the movie is One-Eyed Willy’s treasure, which is paid homage to in a puzzle titled “One-Eyed Wookiee’s Treasure.” This is not the first time Star Wars has been connected to the 1985 movie, with The Rise Of Skywalker drawing comparisons to the film with its MacGuffins.

Aladdin (1992)

The Genie's lamp in Aladdin

While so many great references in the game come in the form of titles and, for Star Wars Easter eggs, the many fun character interactions, there are some fantastic physical Easter eggs to discover, including one based on the brilliant animated film Aladdin.

Coming on Tatooine, specifically next to Booma Ball Bob at Mos Eisley, there are figurines of, most notably, the Genie’s lamp and an hourglass, two crucial elements of the Aladdin story, as well as what appears to be an Oscar, of which Aladdin has three.

South Park

Star Wars has been referenced, cited, memed, and straight-up conversed about in a multitude of shows and movies over the past forty-five years, including South Park through the ‘Chewbacca defense.

In what is like a reference to a reference to Star WarsLego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga references this moment in South Park history through another great level title in the Return of the Jedi portion of the game, ‘Chewbacca Defense.’

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Star Wars is far from the only incredibly iconic and known-by-the-masses franchise out there; another is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which also has a slew of shows, movies, and more under its banner.

The reference to the property is another one that comes in the form of a title, this time being ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Woolamanders.’ A strange and rarely seen creature, the Woolamander is native to Yavin IV, appearing only in Battlefront II, From A Certain Point Of View, and this game – outside of reference content, that is.

Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Arc (1981)

While it is easy to believe that Lucasfilm only has Star Wars as its huge piece of intellectual property, it is also the home to Indiana Jones, with the two franchises connected through George Lucas as well as various references to one another.

This game alone has a good few references to Raiders In The Lost Ark specifically. The best and most obvious comes in ‘Reap What You Solo’, where there resides the Arc of the Covenant from the adored film. On top of that, there is a reference to the iconic Indy bringing a gun to a swordfight scene and a side mission named ‘Raiders of the Great Temple’, which is a solid on-the-nose reference. Easter eggs like these are one of the many reasons why this game is one of the best Lego games everyone should be playing right now.

Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001)

There have been debates raging on for years over what is the greatest cinematic trilogy ever, and two that are constantly at the top of these lists are the original Sar Wars trilogy and Lord Of The Rings, which gets referenced in this game.

In an Easter egg that will only be caught by fans of Middle Earth, the character of Beaumont Kin (played by Dominic Monaghan, who acts in both franchises) complains about not getting a second breakfast. This quote from him is a reference to his Lord Of The Rings character Merry and is a fun homage that all nerds will love.

Spaceballs (1987)

Dark Helmet has a crushed helmet and glasses in Spaceballs

It is intensely meta that Star Wars references a movie that is itself a parody of Star Wars, alas, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has a great Easter egg paying homage to the 1987 comedy Spaceballs.

There are a couple of references to the movie in the game, including Jabba the Hutt being surrounded by pizza and C-3PO wearing a mop on his head. There is also a subtler Easter egg in ‘Best Leia’d Plans’ when the player can stumble across a hologram of the Emperor playing around before promptly leaving when he notices the player, a similar moment happens with Dark Helmet in Spaceballs.
