LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales Trailer Shows Return to Vader’s Castle

The trailer for LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales has been released. Dropping on Disney+ on October 1, the seasonal special will see Poe Dameron and BB-8 journey to the remains of Darth Vader’s castle. The special follows 2020’s Christmas-themed LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special.

Set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Terrifying Tales sees Poe and BB-8 land on Mustafar, where crime boss Graballa the Hutt has turned Darth Vader’s imposing fortress into a luxury hotel. Together the pilot, droid, Hutt, and a young pilot named Dean meet Vaneé, Vader’s attendant from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Vaneé regales the group with spooky stories from across the galaxy. Meanwhile, an ancient evil emerges that Poe and BB-8 must defeat.

Posted on the official Star Wars Twitter account, the trailer promises many Star Wars-themed takes on familiar spooky tales, much like how 2020’s Holiday Special played on classic Christmas tales. This includes Luke Skywalker wishing on a monkey’s (or perhaps Wookie’s?) paw, young Ben Solo surrounded by ghostly visions and a battle droid parodying Jack Nicholson’s iconic line from The Shining. Check out the trailer below.

Terrifying Tales stars Jake Green as Poe Dameron, taking up the role from Oscar Isaac. He will be joined by Raphael Alejandro as Dean, Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt, Tony Hale as Vaneé, Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8, and Christian Slater as Ren. Ren is a character who made his debut in 2019’s The Rise of Kylo Ren comic series as the former leader of the Knights of Ren before Ben Solo joined.

Much like the previous LEGO Star Wars Special, LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales offers fans a fun, seasonal adventure that plays with familiar horror tropes. It is a non-serious adventure for younger audiences, yet can be appreciated by older fans for its nods to the wider galaxy and Easter eggs. With the release date confirmed, viewers can prepare to return to Vader’s Castle when the special drops on October 1.
