In LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, players can unlock General Grievous as one of the 380 playable characters in the massive character roster. As an android with four arms and wielding four simultaneous Lightsabers, General Grievous is immediately recognizable as one of the most iconic villains in the franchise. Although still undoubtedly a villain, General Grievous’s antics are more humorous than threatening to keep with the funny tone in LEGO: Star Wars.
While playing through the levels in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, players will encounter General Grievous. During the second level, So Uncivilized, players will battle General Grievous as they play as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody. For this fight, players will need to reduce General Grievous’s health bar three times until he finally goes down. Each time players clear his health bar, the general will lose a limb and a Lightsaber. General Grievous has three attacks that he will repeat. First, he has a slide attack that players can avoid by looking for the red indicator on the ground. Next, he will jump toward the player while swinging his many Lightsabers, and players should continue moving around the arena to avoid this attack. Finally, General Grievous has a wide-range melee attack he will use if players get too close. To deal damage to the boss in LEGO: Star Wars, players should use Commander Cody’s ranged attack from a distance. After dealing sufficient damage, players will need to rapidly attack while General Grievous approaches them to fully deplete his health before beginning phase two with General Grievous.
For the next phase of the fight, players will need to contend with the same mechanics, and the enemy droids General Grievous will summon to his aid. To deal damage, players can either use the Force to throw objects at the boss or use Commander Cody’s ranged attacks. Additionally, players will need to solve a small puzzle to get both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody up to the higher platform to reach General Grievous. Finally, once General Grievous is down to his last arm, Commander Cody will be able to repair a communication tower and call for backup, and General Grievous will be shot down by a Jedi ship, which ends the level in LEGO: Star Wars.

Once players have defeated General Grievous and cleared the level, he will become available on the character selection screen. However, players will not immediately be able to play as the infamous villain; first, they will need to pay 200,000 studs to unlock him. To find the character selection menu, players should use the up arrow on their D-pad and navigate to the Dark Side section. From there, players can purchase General Grievous and other Sith or villainous characters.
Additionally, completing a level in the game will unlock the ability to repeat the level in Free Play. During story mode, players can only use the pre-assigned characters who are present for that part of the story. In Free Play, players can use any of the 380 characters of their choosing. To find all of the collectables in LEGO: Star Wars in a level, players will likely need to repeat a level using Free Play to use unique character abilities. For instance, General Grievous can use thermal detonators and Empire terminals.
