The Lego Batman Movie 2 would not have that same problem, as the bad relationship between Batman and Superman had been evidenced in the original movie, with a major plot point of the franchise being how Arnett’s Batman was largely absent from the Justice League as a team, despite still being a member.

The Lego Batman Movie 2‘s conflict would have made more sense than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s, as the animated movie’s Superman would have been depicted as the version of the hero Affleck’s Batman thought Cavill’s Superman was. The animated film planned to show “Superman’s alienation from humanity,” which would likely have hurt his friendship with Batman. Sadly, The Lego Batman Movie 2 was cancelled, and the emotional tale never made it to the big screen.
