Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 Premiere Images: History is Ruined

The CW has released images for the season 3 premiere of Legends of Tomorrow that show the Legends on a beach along with Julius Caesar, played by Simon Merrells. The TV series is about to begin its third season after a fight with Vandal Savage in season 1 and defeating the Legion of Doom who rewrote reality with the Spear of Destiny in season 2.

However, the Legends’ efforts to save the timestream were not without consequences. By interacting with their past selves, the team made a costly decision that “broke time,” creating time anomalies that the team must somehow fix. In the season 2 finale, the group realized what their actions had caused when a trip to Los Angeles in 2017 brought them face-to-face with dinosaurs. Over the course of the 18-episode season, the Legends will attempt to repair the damage done to the timestream while also dealing with both old and new threats.

The photos released by The CW are from the season 3 premiere, ‘Aruba-Con’. The setting for the episode, Aruba, calls back to events from season 2, including the premiere, where Rory claims that he wants to take a vacation to Aruba. Of course other problems got in the way of this all the way up until the finale. As fans can see in one photo, Rory seems to finally get the vacation he had been hoping for — at least temporarily.

The photos give fans another look at Simon Merrells as Julius Caesar on a beach in a violent confrontation with Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) and Sara Lance (Caity Lotz). Some of the photos are spoiler-free and show Nate (Nick Zano), Sara, and Ray (Brandon Routh) in a discussion. We also get to see Rip (Arthur Darvill) with a new haircut explaining something to Sara in a building that may be the headquarters of the Time Bureau.

The Time Bureau is Rip’s new occupation following his departure from the Waverider in the season 2 finale. According to the season 3 synopsis, Rip’s dissatisfaction with their unorthodox methods will lead him to form the Time Bureau, who will serve as “the new sheriffs in town.” Though Rip won’t be a villain, he won’t be aligned with the Lgends’ goals either and will be inclined to take a different approach toward fixing the timestream.
