League of Legends Adds Arcane Ekko with Firelight Skin

Arcane‘s Ekko is finally coming to League of Legends with the Firelight Ekko skin. After having only a single game for a decade, in 2019 Riot games began to release new titles and expand on its beloved universe. This included Riot’s first-ever foray into television with Arcane.

In 2021 Riot also released its Netflix show Arcane to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans and critics alike. Arcane follows the backstories of quite a few beloved League of Legends characters, including Vi, Jinx, Jayce, Ekko, Caitlyn, and Viktor. Arcane‘s first season consisted of three chapters, each containing three episodes meaning only been nine episodes have been released so far. A second season of Arcane was renewed on Netflix and fans are eagerly waiting to see what is in store for the future.

This morning the League of Legends Twitter shared a video of the Firelight Ekko skin on the Public Beta Environment, meaning it will soon be coming to the main server. The Firelight skin shows Ekko with his iconic board and mask that marks him as a member of the Firelights and demonstrates some of the powers which Ekko possesses in League of Legends that he has not yet developed in the show, potentially giving a sneak peek of some of the things Ekko might be able to do in Arcane season two.  The League of Legends Netflix show was extremely successful and the game’s player base is eager to see more Arcane in League of Legends itself.

Ekko’s identity as the leader of the Firelights is pivotal to the narrative of Arcane and the character’s appearance in that persona is vastly different from how he appears in any skin that is currently available, making it an important addition to the game. Although in the show Ekko has not yet come into his full power, his budding friendship with Heimerdinger at the end of Season 1 hints at the possible development of his Z-Drive Resonance in Season 2.

Prior to this announcement Vi, Jinx, Jayce, and Caitlyn were the only champions that had gotten their Arcane skins in League of Legends. Ekko, Viktor, and Heimerdinger were conspicuously absent from that list, along with possibly several others. It seems that one of those is now being addressed. Perhaps some of the other champions that have not yet gotten skins from Arcane will start to get them as teasers for season two, as the first four did for season one.

League of Legends is available on PC and Mac
