Law & Order: OC Season 4 Casts Major Breaking Bad Star As Stabler’s Brother

Law & Order: Organized Crime season 4 casts a major Breaking Bad star as one of Stabler’s brothers. The spinoff focused on Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler sets itself apart from the larger Law & Order franchise by taking a more season-long approach to its storytelling and offering a deeper examination of its lead character. In its upcoming installment, the show will take that examination further by introducing Stabler’s siblings.

TVLine reports that Breaking Bad vet Dean Norris will play Stabler’s older brother Randall in Law & Order: Organized Crime season 4 for a multi-episode arc. Norris played DEA agent Hank Schrader in the seminal AMC crime drama and he would go on to reprise the role for two episodes in the spinoff prequel Better Call Saul. For his performance in Breaking Bad, Norris received a Saturn Award nomination in 2011.

The upcoming episodes will introduce two of Stabler’s brothers — younger brother Joe Jr. and older brother Randall. On the whole, Stabler has three brothers and two sisters. In terms of character descriptions, Randall left the family when he was young, building a successful career as a real estate developer. Randall and Elliot have a lot of tension in their relationship because of an unknown event involving their father.

Joe Jr. is the youngest brother. He spent around 15 years in the Army before being dishonorably discharged, but it’s not known exactly why that happened. Joe has been working for a British wine merchant. It’s mentioned that there’s something about Joe’s work that makes him ashamed to face up to Elliot, whom Joe views as his hero. Casting for Joe has not been announced, but the details point to a likely source of tension in Law & Order: Organized Crime season 4.
