Last of Us Remake Gameplay Shows Off Even More Horrific Bloaters

New unedited gameplay footage of The Last of Us Part 1 shows off the game’s terrifying redesigned Bloaters alongside impressive new environments and animations. The upcoming remake will overhaul the beloved post-apocalyptic action game to better match the graphics and gameplay of its sequel, The Last of Us Part 2. Naughty Dog had already revealed Last of Us remake gameplay changes, and now another demo reveals even more of the updated PlayStation classic. Set for release on September 2, The Last of Us Part 1 will give the beloved game a major graphical overhaul while also making some gameplay adjustments. Environments and character models have been rebuilt from the ground up, letting the remake match or even exceed the level of believability achieved by The Last of Us Part 2. The project will also adopt some of the sequel’s gameplay features, like its more immersive bow aiming system and its real-time weapon bench upgrades. Naughty Dog will also give fans new ways to experience Joel and Ellie’s journey with new Last of Us Part 1 modes like Permadeath and Speedrun. The iconic segment has been rebuilt in stunning quality, and each character’s animations perfectly complement the original tone and voice acting of each scene. This Last of Us Part 1 gameplay also shows off the remake’s new and improved Bloaters, which now resemble the version of the boss monsters featured in the sequel. The infected juggernaut’s armor plates realistically crack and shatter with every shot, creating a truly impressive fight for survival.

The Last of Us Remake Gives Bill’s Town A Makeover

Alongside new combat features and gameplay modes, new Last of Us Part 1 cosmetics will add extra personality to each playthrough. The upcoming remake includes every skin that was originally available to players for their second playthrough, like goggles and a backpack for Ellie inspired by Naughty Dog’s Jax and Daxter series. However, even more skins have been added that pay homage to fellow AAA PlayStation franchises like God of War, Sly Cooper, Ghost of Tsushima and more.

The Last of Us Part 1 promises to deliver an even more gorgeous overgrown post-apocalypse and even more terrifying infected hordes. The Bill’s Town gameplay demo shows off some of the remake’s gameplay adjustments and breathtaking improvements to character models and animations. While the story will remain largely the same, Joel and Ellie’s iconic adventure will be a totally new experience in The Last of Us Part 1.
