HBO appears to have accidentally revealed the official release date for their upcoming live-action adaption of The Last Of Us. Set to star Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, The Last of Us has quickly become one of HBO’s most anticipated projects in recent years. The series will adapt the beloved video game series of the same name created by Naughty Dog, with the game’s creator Neil Druckmann having also served as a writer on this long-awaited series.
The Last of Us follows Joel who, after the tragic death of his daughter, accompanies a young girl named Ellie across an apocalyptic America, in search for the cure to the devastating brain virus that has taken over the country. With a reported budget of $10 million per episode, audiences are now eagerly awaiting the adaption, with the first official The Last of Us trailer having recently offered the best look yet at Pascal’s Joel and Ramsey’s Ellie. While The Last of Us was initially anticipated to release before the end of 2022, it was confirmed earlier this year that the dystopian drama would actually hit screens in 2023, and now an exact release date appears to have been confirmed.
Now, according HBO Max’s landing page for The Last Of Us, the show will premiere on January 15th, 2023. While this release date has yet to be officially announced by HBO, the appearance of it on the HBO app is certainly a good sign. Lack of further confirmation of this release date certainly seems to imply that this was revealed by mistake, and it remains to be seen whether HBO will later remove this date or confirm it.
