Kylo Ren May Be Dead, But He Has One More Star Wars Story To Tell

Kylo Ren May Be Dead, But He Has One More Star Wars Story To Tell

Despite Kylo Ren’s noble death in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the fallen Jedi who used to be Ben Solo still leaves an essential Star Wars story to be told. The sequel trilogy’s main villain, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, is Ben Solo, known to the First Order as Kylo Ren. The fallen Jedi is the enforcer and warlord of the organized Imperial Remnant, and fights on the side of evil for almost all the three sequel movies. But even with Kylo Ren being such a fan favorite, his story before the movies has barely been explored.

Beginning as Ben Solo, the boy was raised by Han and Leia in his early years, where his Force-sensitivity was clear to his parents. He was then sent to train with his uncle, at Skywalker’s Jedi Temple, where he learned the ways of the Jedi. But he eventually and slowly fell to the dark side, betraying his uncle and joining the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke and his First Order. But the period between Ben’s betrayal and fall and the events of the sequel trilogy is pretty much unexplored in the Star Wars timeline, leading to some very interesting possibilities.

Here is how to watch all Star Wars movies and TV shows chronologically and in order of release, and how each fits into the Star Wars timeline.

We Know About Kylo Ren’s Fall To The Dark Side

The Rise Of Kylo Ren Comic And The Last Jedi

While Ben Solo’s training with Luke Skywalker also has not been explored very deeply, we do know a bit about his fall to the dark side. Ben struggled immensely with his family’s legacy while training at the Ossus Jedi Temple. He didn’t know how to exist as a Skywalker and a Solo, and where his identity put him with his questioning of the light side thanks to Palpatine’s remote, mental manipulation. This manifested itself in dark moments during his training that led to Luke examining Ben’s mind and set up the chain of events that caused Ben’s fall and his destruction of Luke’s temple.

Kylo Ren As A New Darth Vader Hasn’t Been Explored

The Warlord Of The First Order And The Jedi Killer

The following 6 years, however, are almost completely unexplored. We know Kylo joined the Knights of Ren, killed their leader, built his unique lightsaber, and became the warlord of the First Order, but after that, almost nothing. This period could serve as an incredible jumping-off point for a series about the fallen Jedi. Kylo Ren became known as the ‘Jedi Killer’ during this time, and it would be incredible to see him facing off against other Jedi trained by Luke Skywalker during this time. Kylo Ren always tried to be a ‘new Vader’, and this story could show him really being that.

This theoretical Kylo Ren story could be animated in the gorgeous style of The Bad Batch, or maybe even venture into live-action with Adam Driver returning to the role (though that might not be possible with Adam Driver saying he’s done with Star Wars). Supreme Leader Snoke, Captain Phasma, and General Hux could all return as well, making this a quintessential bad-guy-led series, something else viewers have been begging for. This story would show audiences something they really haven’t seen before, and expand the Star Wars timeline in a period that is sorely lacking.
