KUWTK: Kim Kardashian Has Finally Filed For Divorce From Kanye West

After months of dodging divorce rumors, Kim Kardashian has officially filed for divorce from Kanye West. It was last month when sources said “divorce is imminent” for the superstar couple after seven years and four children together. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star filed the petition after spending Valentine’s Day with her kids.

Kim and Kanye were at odds with each other for a good majority of 2020. After spending the previous year traveling the country for Kanye’s Sunday Service performances, things took a turn for the worse when the rap/fashion mogul announced his bid for the presidency last July. In the weeks that followed, tension between the couple mounted after Kanye went on a Twitter tirade against his wife and mother-in-law before divulging private information about their first pregnancy during his bizarre campaign rally. In the months that followed, the pair were rarely spotted together as Kanye drew back into seclusion following his election loss while Kim continued her prison reform advocacy and promoting her businesses.

One month after divorce rumors filled the press, Kim had her longtime divorce lawyer Laura Wasser finally file the paperwork, TMZ reports. The split is reportedly amicable with Kim filing for joint legal custody and Kanye reportedly being fine with the custody arrangements. The KKW Beauty founder and rapper have agreed to co-parent their children. Together they share North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1. They also have a prenup in place that neither side is contesting. It’s also said that the pair are far along in the process of reaching a property settlement agreement.

The divorce news doesn’t come as too much as a surprise to fans that have been following the reports surrounding their crumbling marriage. Since last summer, divorce has plagued the couple after it became apparent how different their lifestyle and views were. Kim noticeably never expressed any public support for Kanye’s failed presidential campaign and was rumored to have shown support for President Joe Biden. In December, insiders revealed the separate lives the two had been living since Kanye lost the election. After offending his wife at his sole campaign rally, the couple was photographed arguing inside of a car with tears running down Kim’s face.

Over the holiday, Kim shared a series of family photos where Kanye was noticeably absent. According to sources, the Yeezy founder found her reality star lifestyle to be “unbearable” while Kim said his campaign was the final straw for her. It’s worth noting that she opted to wait before filing in hopes of the couple working out their differences. But, last month, it was said that they had stopped attending couple’s counseling, which was reportedly the only thing keeping them together. The couple enjoyed seven years together where they stole the show on red carpets and appeared inseparable while expanding their family. While many fans hoped that they would work things out and stay together. Kim’s divorce filing reflects otherwise.
