The world of Kingsman is about to get much bigger, with the franchise set to receive a prequel, sequel, TV show and spinoff. Kingsman: The Secret Service was based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar, and followed a troubled youth named Eggsy being trained for a top-secret British spy organization dubbed the Kingsman. The film had a great cast – including Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine – inventive action scenes and some fun twists on standard spy movie tropes.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle found Eggsy travelling to America to work with sister organization the Statesman, and while the film was another big hit, it received more of a mixed response than the original. That said, the success of the sequel cemented the franchise, and it was only a matter of time before another entry was announced.

Fans of Kingsman will be happy to hear that not only is a third movie coming, but the franchise is set to expand in a big way. Speaking to Empire, director Matthew Vaughn confirmed the next sequel will be ‘the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship,’ and that a prequel titled Kingsman: The Great Game will look at the organization in the early 1900s. The director also says both movies will be shot back to back.
There will also be an 8-hour Kingsman TV show, though there are no story details for the series at present, and finally, a spinoff film will explore the Statesman. Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum made up the key members of the group in The Golden Circle, though there’s currently no word on whether their characters will be back for the spinoff.
That makes for four separate Kingsman projects in development, so the studio obviously has faith in the potential of the series. Modern spy movies and television shows lean towards gritty realism, while the Kingsman series is more inspired by the colorful antics of Roger Moore’s James Bond era. They’re action-packed and tongue-in-cheek and get by on the charm of the cast and willing to be non-PC.
That said, the Kingsman movies have also been criticized for what many see as pointless gross-out humor and juvenile gags, with a sex scene in The Golden Circle being cited as a low point in the film. Given the success of the series so far, it’s obviously connecting with audiences, so viewers should probably expect a few more non-PC jokes in the movies ahead.
