Kingsman 3 Script Update Shared By Director

Kingsman 3 Script Update Shared By Director

Kingsman 3 director Matthew Vaughn shares an update on the script for the final movie in the hit franchise. Taron Egerton returned as superspy Eggsy alongside Colin Firth as Harry Hart in 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which ended up making over $410.9 million worldwide. After the release of prequel The King’s Man in 2021, it’s been confirmed that the upcoming fourth franchise installment will conclude the story of Eggsy and Harry, though progress has thus far been slow going.

Now, with no Kingsman 3 release date in sight, Vaughn reveals how progress on the trilogy-capper is going during a recent interview with Collider. According to the director, the movie is still in the script stage at the moment, but he knows how the whole story will be wrapping up. Check out Vaughn’s full comment below:

“So Kingsman 3, we’ve got to get on with before Colin [Firth] is way too old and dare I say it, Taron’s [Egerton] getting on as well. So, Kingsman 3 is definitely the conclusion of their relationship. Act one is being written. Act three is being written. Act Two needs some work, right? And so we know how it ends, we know how it begins.”

So far, there have been three Kingsman movies from director Matthew Vaughn, with more on the way. Here’s the Kingsman films ranked worst to best.

What To Expect From Kingsman 3

When Could It Release?

Vaughn revealed at New York Comic Con last October that Kingsman 3 is expected to start filming at some point this year. If the script is finished over the next few weeks and filming begins in the summer or fall, it’s possible that the film could release in 2025, though a 2026 release date may be more likely considering how slow progress on the film has been so far.

While official details on the project remain scarce, Egerton and Firth are expected to return as part of the Kingsman 3 cast. By the time the credits roll on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, not many characters from the first film remain, suggesting it could be just the two original actors who reprise their roles. It’s possible, however, that sequel newcomers Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges could return as Agent Tequila and Champ, respectively.

As far as story information goes, Vaughn has previously revealed that Eggy will lose his purpose in Kingsman 3, which will lead to one last mission with Harry. Exactly what this will entail, however, is a mystery, but the three previous films in the franchise have all balanced over-the-top violence with fairly raunchy humor, suggesting the upcoming installment will do the same. Hopefully, more Kingsman 3 updates surface in the coming months.
