King Shark and Jeff the Land Shark Are Best Buds in Charming Fan Art

In some incredibly fun fan art, DC’s King Shark has found a “new dumb friend” in a crossover of epic and adorable proportions, finding a best bud in none other than Marvel’s Jeff the Land Shark. While past versions of King Shark have been fairly standard in their depiction of him as a monstrous villain of the deep, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn went in another direction, making Nanaue incredibly endearing (and somewhat dimwitted), having Sylvester Stallone voicing Task Force X’s savage but lovable shark-man. As such, King Shark has become very popular as a beloved DC character, earning him this wonderful new art featuring him hanging out with the always adorable Jeff from Marvel Comics.

In Marvel Comics, Jeff the Land Shark was created in 2019 by Kelly Thompson and Daniele Di Nicuolo, being the adopted pet of Gwenpool during her time on the West Coast Avengers. Thanks to his small stature and four legs, Jeff resembles a shark/puppy hybrid, resulting in Marvel fans instantly falling in love with Gwenpool’s adorable little buddy. Jeff would go on to live with Wade Wilson’s Deadpool when Gwenpool feared she wouldn’t get a new solo series, though Jeff now has his own digital series from Thompson and artist Gurihiru that’s simply entitled It’s Jeff, being part of Marvel Unlimted’s new relaunch.

Now, new fan art featured on Reddit from @meganhuang5 and @parisalleyne features King Shark and Jeff joining forces as best buds, crossing over from their respective universes to presumably hang out and discuss their affinity for “nom noms.” Clearly, the pairing of the two lovable shark characters is a stroke of genius, and the art itself will no doubt have DC and Marvel fans alike clamoring for an actual crossover series where Nanaue and Jeff could canonically meet in some fashion.

Sadly, the DC Comics King Shark of the comics is very much still his brutal and more villainous self, rather than the big and lovable version featured in the DCEU. Then there’s the way outside chance for some sort of official crossover on the big screen (as unfeasible as that sounds). Not only would Jeff have to first be adapted to the MCU (perhaps in the upcoming Deadpool 3?) there would then be the obstacle of separate and rival studios.

In any case, it seems as though the friendship of Nanaue and Jeff will simply continue to exist in fan art such as this, but that doesn’t make it any less fantastic. In The Suicide Squad, King Shark was overjoyed to find “new dumb friends” in some alien jellyfish (who turned out to be not so friendly). Thankfully, Jeff the Land Shark is more than friendly, and it’s great to see them hanging out as best buddies in this amazing and adorable fan art, crossing over DC’s and Marvel’s beloved shark-themed characters.
