Kid Cosmic Trailer Teases Powerpuff Girls Creator’s New Netflix Animated Show

Netflix has released a trailer for Kid Cosmic, a new animated series from the creator of The Powerpuff Girls. Craig McCracken’s Powerpuff Girls series has been one of the most popular franchises to premiere on Cartoon Network, and has even been tapped for a live-action adaptation by the CW. Now, McCracken is taking his showrunning skills to Netflix for a new children’s series with the same spirit as Powerpuff Girls before it.

A trailer for Kid Cosmic was posted to YouTube by Netflix Futures. The series will tell the story of a nine-year-old boy who discovers strange rings that give the wearers superpowers. The kid then gives the rings to his eclectic group of friends (including an old man and a round fluffy cat) in order to protect their town from alien invasions. Kid Cosmic will premiere on Netflix on February 2nd of this year. You can view the full trailer for the series below.

While Kid Cosmic fits into the same superhero genre as Powerpuff Girls, the art style seen in the trailer is more reminiscent of McCracken’s other animated series, Wander Over Yonder and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Both these shows are beloved in their own right, and if they’re influencing McCracken’s new series, Kid Cosmic is sure to be just as much of a success.
