Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ Gets A Final Magical Trailer Ahead of Release

A new trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits has arrived with a stunning final look ahead of its release tomorrow. The story is centered around protagonist Kena – a guide to spirits as they depart from the physical world – and her efforts to free restless spirits dwelling in an abandoned village in the forest.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was unveiled during a PlayStation 5 presentation in June of 2020, and was originally scheduled to come out around the console’s launch window in November of that same year. However, multiple delays during Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ development period slated the game for a September 21, 2021 release. Ember Lab, the developer bringing the game’s world to life, has roots as an animation studio and is relatively new to the gaming world; Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the team’s first foray into game development.

A launch trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits was posted online this morning to Ember Lab’s YouTube channel. This final peek at the game features new snippets of gameplay. Kena is shown facing-off with an ominous fleet of forest enemies, with one particularly powerful-looking foe clad in a wooden mask. Additionally, the trailer’s gameplay shows Kena reviving corrupted areas of the dying forest back into luscious green habitats. The world shown in the trailer looks vast, indicating the game will allow its protagonist to extensively explore her surroundings.

The final trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits also sheds light on its story and new characters. The trailer touches on how Kena’s father – who also seems to be one of the characters featured in the trailer – was a spirit guide before her. In addition to her father, Kena encounters a woman that tells her she “carries the same energy that flows through [the forest’s] roots.” The game will likely have even more characters yet to be revealed; and perhaps the game will have additional storylines in the future, seeing as Ember Lab already hinted at a potential DLC.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits looks like it’s shaping up to be a visually stunning game. Ember Lab’s animation skills and proclaimed love for storytelling will be put to the test after players get their hands on the game tomorrow. It’s also going to be exciting to see how Ember Lab takes advantage of the PlayStation 5 and its new technology. Kena: Bridge of Spirits has a lot of high expectations to live up to upon release, so here’s to hoping the final product will stack up to be as good as it’s final trailer suggests.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits releases on September 21, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
