Keanu Reeves Gets More Comics Accurate Costume And Look In New Constantine 2 Art

Keanu Reeves gets a new look in Constantine 2 fan art, showing what he could look like if the DC sequel gives him a more comic-accurate costume. While a new DC continuity is on its way from James Gunn and Peter Safran, there will still be Elseworlds movies outside of the DC Universe. One of them is Constantine 2, with Reeves set to reprise the role of John Constantine after the 2005 movie.

While there haven’t been any Constantine 2 updates in recent time, the world is still curious to learn what the sequel will actually be about and what type of story they are telling. In the meantime, JPH_Photoshop shared new Constantine 2 artwork recently, with a whole new look for the Hellblazer.

Despite the original Constantine movie having gained a cult following, one of the big criticisms was Reeves not only skipping the British accent, but also not having John’s traditional comic book look. With the new Constantine 2 fan art, however, Reeves’ version gets the classic brown trench coat while also having his hair dyed blonde, proving that he would look fantastic with the comics-accurate design.

Why Constantine 2 Should Be Part Of James Gunn’s DC Universe

Despite Reeves’ franchise having started out as being set in its own continuity, DC Studios would benefit from making Constantine part of the new DC Universe. For starters, Reeves is one of Hollywood’s biggest and most beloved actors, as his popularity only continues to increase. With the DC Universe still having plenty of characters left to cast, having Constantine 2 be retroactively set in Gunn and Safran’s continuity, they would land a major victory by getting Reeves to be part of their franchise.

It is also worth considering that DC Studios already has two Elseworlds franchises going on with The Batman and Joker universes, which became major success for Warner Bros. Discovery as sequels for both properties are on their way. However, having too much of a good thing could also easily backfire on them, as they are also working on getting the DC Universe up and running, and too many Elseworld properties could draw attention from the main franchise. This may instead suggest that a follow-up could be best in the main DCU, especially as it would also be neat for Constantine 2 to take place in a world where John could engage with other magic-based and supernatural characters from the DC realm.

This approach would also have other side benefits for the franchise. Since the unmade Justice League Dark movie still has a lot of hype, Constantine 2 could be the film to finally get Warner Bros closer to bringing the team to life in live-action. It would also be refreshing to have a version of Constantine who is far along into his journey as other heroes in the DC Universe get their journeys started. Hopefully, if the SAG-AFTRA strike lifts any time soon, news on Constantine 2 will start to come in, including when it will start filming and when the world can expect to see the sequel in theaters.
