Kang’s Power Reveal Hints At An Unlikely Avengers Ally

Kang’s Power Reveal Hints At An Unlikely Avengers Ally

The reveal of one power for Kang the Conqueror in the MCU means that he could recruit an unexpected ally from the Avengers to help with his mission. Kang the Conqueror was introduced as the primary villain for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, filling the void left by Thanos from the Infinity Saga. Kang poses a much greater threat to the MCU, not least for the fact that many of his multiversal variants, who exist across many different timelines, also share nefarious intentions. These variants comprise the enigmatic Council of Kangs, a group that is expected to have a huge part to play in Phase 6’s upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania saw Majors debut Kang the Conqueror himself, introduce the Council of Kangs, and tease Victor Timely’s debut in Loki season 2. In the movie, Kang displayed some formidable powers, setting him up to be almost unbeatable in Phase 6. However, his strongest ability could enable him to recruit an ally to his cause – as while Kang himself hasn’t yet been shown as able to use his Time Sphere to traverse time and space in the present day of the MCU, the Council of Kangs appears to be using something similar to meet at one singular point of the multiverse, suggesting either they or the Ant-Man villain could utilize this to recruit another figure.

Scarlet Witch Would Be The Perfect Kang Ally

Kang’s Power Reveal Hints At An Unlikely Avengers Ally

During his previous appearances, Kang the Conqueror’s attempts to recruit allies have been shown. This first occurred in Loki season 1, when He Who Remains offered Loki and Sylvie everything they ever wanted in exchange for taking his place, and again in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as Kang offered to give Janet Van Dyne back the lost time with her daughter, Hope. Kang’s teased ability to hop across time and space makes one Avenger the next perfect candidate to receive this offer, as the Scarlet Witch has always been plagued by the things she’s lost, and the time she’ll never get back, whether that be with her brother, Vision, or her children.

At various points during her MCU timeline, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, has been depicted as a villain, which only makes Kang the Conqueror’s potential recruitment of her even more likely. Wanda was a minor antagonist in Avengers: Age of Ultron, unwittingly caused chaos in Captain America: Civil War, and held an entire town hostage in WandaVision before becoming fully corrupted by the Darkhold in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This means Kang the Conqueror could pluck her from a vulnerable point in her timeline – or simply find another version and convince her that whatever he offers her is the best thing for her, and have her fight the Avengers alongside him.

Scarlet Witch’s Reappearance Wouldn’t Repeat Doctor Strange 2’s Villain Issues

Scarlet Witch as a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness explored the Scarlet Witch as a full-blown villain already, so it’s possible that bringing her back to fight alongside Kang would simply retread these steps. However, similarly to how Loki returned, witnessed his death, and embarked on a redemption arc, the opposite could occur for the Scarlet Witch. If Kang the Conqueror takes her from a time long before her death in Phase 4, he could reveal her future to the young witch, but instead of seeking redemption, this could fuel a truly villainous arc for Elizabeth Olsen’s former Avenger, bringing her back to the MCU without retconning her emotional sacrifice.
