Kang The Conqueror’s Best MCU Recast Imagined In Marvel Art

One of the most popular fan-casts for Marvel Studios’ potential recasting of Kang the Conqueror has been imagined in some brilliant MCU fan art. Jonathan Majors debuted as Kang the Conqueror variant He Who Remains in 2021’s Loki season 1 before portraying the Conqueror himself in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While the MCU’s Multiverse Saga has been built solely around Kang the Conqueror’s overarching narrative, Jonathan Majors’ arrest in March 2023 and subsequent controversy surrounding the actor has thrown this future into jeopardy, though the magic of the multiverse means Marvel Studios can simply recast the supervillain, and there are many strong performers who could assume the demanding role.

Since Jonathan Majors’ arrest in March 2023, many have speculated that the role of Kang the Conqueror will be recast, with a new actor taking over from Majors as the multiversal villain for the remainder of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Several high-profile performers have been suggested as perfect for the role, including acclaimed actor Denzel Washington, who has been imagined as Kang the Conqueror in new art shared by 21xfour.

Other names such as Will Smith, John Boyega, Lakeith Stanfield and John David Washington have also been thrown in the ring, but the latter’s father, Denzel Washington, has been a popular fan-cast for an older and darker Kang the Conqueror.

Kang The Conqueror’s MCU Future Is In Jeopardy

In the wake of Thanos’ defeat in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios introduced Kang the Conqueror as the new primary villain for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Jonathan Majors’ performances in Loki season 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania marked strong debuts for Kang the Conqueror and his villainous variants, but allegations brought against Jonathan Majors in March 2023 put his MCU career in jeopardy. Majors did appear as Victor Timely in Loki season 2, as the season was filmed prior to Majors’ arrest, but the future of the villain in the Multiverse Saga is uncertain, despite Majors being billed to star in 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in Phase 6.

It was reported in a disputed November 2023 story by Variety that Marvel Studios may be moving away from the Kang the Conqueror narrative, which was reinforced by Jeff Loveness and Destin Daniel Cretton departing production on Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Speaking on the House of R podcast (via Comicbook.com), Joanna Robinson suggested that Loveness being dropped from The Kang Dynasty was due to his proximity to Kang the Conqueror, while Cretton’s departure from the Phase 6 film perhaps suggests Marvel Studios is taking the project in a completely different direction. Only time will tell what the future holds for Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.
