DC and WEBTOON’s partnership has resulted in four entertaining new webcomic series: Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, Zatanna & the Ripper, Red Hood: Outlaws, and Vixen: NYC. These comics target a new audience and have provided new voices to tell the stories of iconic and familiar DC heroes. Within the series bearing her name, Vixen is proving herself as a young, up-and-coming hero in New York City.

Vixen: NYC has the creative team of Jasmine Walls, Manou Azumi, Omar Vallejos, Hailey Stewart, Toby Fan, BBM, Micah Myers, Mickey, and Amani Kabwe. Episode 29 marks a shift in the story, as Mari and Karen have begun moving onto the next stage of heroism. With a new mentor, the two receive equipment upgrades, meaning Mari gets her first official super suit within the series. Fans of Vixen will love that her classic color scheme is still present, though the outfit is very different from her usual jumpsuits and suits seen in animated iterations of this DC Comics heroine.

Vixen’s New Suit is Youthful, Athletic, and Fashionable

In her past appearances, Vixen has often been depicted in a long yellow jumpsuit which has had a few variations. Her hair has shifted from lengthy to short, and she has shifted from a cat-like mask to an open-faced look for the majority of her history. Now, she dons a sportier look, which provides her with a more athletic appearance. However, it doesn’t forego her modeling background as the outfit appears very trendy and chic, on top of appearing comfortable and practical. This suit has a shorter cut on her legs, while giving Vixen an optional hood she can put up. It’s the perfect blend of athletic and comfortable, giving her room to meet her current challenges while looking fabulous.

Many of DC’s heroes have been known to sport large insignia on their costumes, making them easy to identify. Vixen’s present symbol is the totem pendant she wears, which is readily incorporated into her outfit, though it still bucks the typical superhero logo trend. The suit incorporates gloves and also has visual accents that are pulled in from her pendant’s broader design. Vixen is still as ready to hit the runway as ever in her newest look. Bumblebee has also received a new look. Both of these outfits come courtesy of Stella Maxwell, a hero originally based in the Dakota-verse who is now serving as the young heroines’ mentor. Vixen’s newest era has made several adjustments that have improved on the character’s relatability and the Justice League icon’s latest costume is another positive shift for her.
