Jurassic World Finally Has A Proper T-Rex vs Spinosaurus Rematch

Jurassic World Finally Has A Proper T-Rex vs Spinosaurus Rematch

Warning: SPOILERS for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Finale – “The Nublar Six”

The T-Rex and the Spinosaurus finally get a rematch in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous‘ season 5 finale, which is also the final episode of the Netflix animated spinoff. In Camp Cretaceous season 5, the six teenage Campers dubbed the Nublar Six fight to save the dinosaurs of Mantah Corp Island. Daniel Kon (Andrew Kushino), Mantah Corp’s CEO and the father of Kenji (Ryan Potter), resorts to murderous means to make sure his business deal with Lewis Dodgson (voiced by Andrew Harrington) and BioSyn to sell technology to remotely control dinosaurs goes through. Kon and his mercenaries also take control of several carnivores, including the Spinosaurus, and sic them on the Nublar Six.

The Spinosaurus was introduced in Jurassic Park III as the main dinosaur villain of the film. The Spinosaurus establishes its status as the new apex predator of Isla Sorna AKA Site B when it quickly kills a T-Rex early in the film. The Spino’s introduction was a game-changer for the Jurassic franchise as it ushered in a new era of needing bigger and badder dinosaur villains. Jurassic World followed the Spinosaurus by introducing the idea of hybrid dinosaurs with the Indominus Rex, then the Indoraptor in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the Scorpios Rex in Camp Cretaceous season 3. The Spinosaurus made its canonical return to the franchise in Camp Cretaceous season 4 as one of the prized carnivores on Mantah Corp Island. Further, Camp Cretaceous‘ executive producer Scott Kreamer confirmed this is indeed the same Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park III.

In Camp Cretaceous season 5’s penultimate episode, “The Last Stand,” Mr. Kon and his mercenaries took control of several killer dinos, including the Spinosaurus, the Carnotaurus, Pteranodons, and Velociraptors. Kon’s goons used the Spinosaurus to attack the two T-Rexes on Mantah Corp Island, which the Nublar Six named Big Eatie and Little Eatie. Big Eatie took on all of the super-predators by herself and was overwhelmed. The Spino then clamped its jaws around Big Eatie’s mouth and killed her, repeating how it killed a different T-Rex in Jurassic Park III. However, the Campers eventually destroyed Kon’s handheld controllers, which set the dinos free, including the Spinosaurus, in Camp Cretaceous season 5’s finale.

T-Rex Finally Got Revenge On The Spinosaurus For Jurassic Park III

Jurassic World Finally Has A Proper T-Rex vs Spinosaurus Rematch

The Spinosaurus finally got its comeuppance from the T-Rex in Camp Cretaceous season 5’s finale. It turned out that Big Eatie was not dead, merely injured, but she was able to recover. When the Spinosaurus was running amok after its mind control was broken, Little Eatie emerged from the jungle to fight the finned apex predator. She was quickly joined by Big Eatie, who killed one of Mr. Kon’s mercenaries before joining Little Eatie to fight the Spinosaurus. The two T-Rexes finally drove the Spinosaurus to flee for its life in the jungle. Logically, Little Eatie couldn’t have beaten the Spinosaurus by herself so it made sense that Big and Little together were able to drive the bigger dinosaur away. Although the T-Rexes didn’t kill the Spino, it was an act of long-awaited revenge for how the other T-Rex was killed in Jurassic Park III.

Perhaps it would have been even more satisfying if the Spinosaurus was finally killed by the T-Rexes but it was a victory nonetheless. Similarly, the T-Rex needed help from the Therizinosaurus to kill the Gigantosaurus in Jurassic World Dominion, which was also the T-Rex’s revenge for the Giga killing it 65 million years ago. With the advent of so many bigger and more powerful apex predators in the Jurassic franchise, the T-Rex lost its luster as the alpha predator long ago but it’s still arguably the most popular dinosaur. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous gave the T-Rexes one last win over the Spinosaurus to make up for Jurassic Park III.
