Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Trailer Confirms Show is Ending

The recent Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5 trailer has confirmed that the fifth season will be the Netflix animated show’s last. Debuting in 2020 on the streaming giant, the series focused on six teenagers who were selected to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime camping opportunity on the island of Isla Nublar, the home of the infamous dinosaur-themed attraction, Jurassic Park, and the new home of Jurassic World. During their stay, the events of Jurassic World occur concurrent with Camp Cretaceous season 1, leaving the children stranded on the island with little hope of escape.

Season 4 of the series finds the campers Darius (Paul-Mikel Williams), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), Ben (Sean Giambrone), Yasmina (Kausar Mohammed), and Sammy (Raini Rodriguez) stranded on a different island owned by the bio-engineering company Mantah Corp after an attack by a Mosasaurus. There the children uncover that the corporation is doing more than just cloning and enhancing the DNA of dinosaurs, but that they are planning to pit dinosaurs against each other for the enjoyment of wealthy investors. It is later revealed that the CEO of the evil corporation is none other than Kenji’s father. With Darius able to briefly reach his older brother Brandon (Benjamin Florez) via a phone call to the mainland, the outside world, who previously presumed the campers dead, will now search for the children and potentially uncover Mantah Corp’s sinister plans.

A new trailer for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5 revealed that the upcoming season would be the popular Jurassic World tie-in’s last. After a trailer stuffed with adventure, the video concludes with the words “The Final Season,” thus confirming the end of the popular show on July 21. Check out the trailer below.

The trailer is packed full of action and intrigue with shots of the campers evading Mantah Corp forces, attacking Dilophosauruses, as well as the Spinosaurus and a Carnotaurus being remotely controlled by soldiers. But one of the most stand-out images from the trailer is the return of Dennis Nedry’s (Wayne Knight) Barbasol shaving cream can from the original Jurassic Park film. The can was custom designed by one of InGen’s competitors and given to Nedry to smuggle dinosaur embryos from the facility. During Nedry’s escape from the island in the original film, he crashes his vehicle and is attacked by a Dilophosaurus, losing the can in the mud.

With the campers being stranded for over six months and the events of their seasons crossing paths with the events of both Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the children may finally make their way off their island to safety. Whether or not the genetic engineering performed by Mantah Corp and Kenji’s father will continue, especially with the discovery of Nedry’s Barbasol can full of embryos, remains to be seen. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5 will be released on July 21.
